I don't think it will be too long before the digital flag system is hacked.

I think hacking would be brilliant.
We could have a hand with six fingers holding up an oatcake when we play Stoke, or a picture of Ronnie Whelan's daughter when Stevie G comes out, or a Hamas flag when Spurs take the field.
What could possibly go wrong?

Only you could possibly get away with saying this :)

You should have seen the three posts I scrapped!

More watering down of football supporting.

May as well put a PG certificate on everyone's SeasonCard, just so we all know that everything is going to be completely sanitised and aimed at families.

I watched the Arsenal away draw last season in the "Tap Room" of my local boozer.

I shouted out the usual industrial language when they equalised and got a bollocking off some women because her young son was watching the game as well.

Now I don't like kids in pubs at the best of times but hey ho in the main lounge area fair enough, but i was in the tap room.

This is where we are heading folk. Long gone are the days when 90% of the crowd were Working class males. You just have to look back at old footage from the 70's. Mostly blokes in the crowd and no replica shirts.
Indeed.

It's not just football neither, it's in all walks of life. People claiming that they're being offended, nothing being said in fear of offending some set of people somewhere. watering down of news, lack of reporting of things that need to be.

Living abroad doesn't get me in to many matches over a year, but whenever I enter the stadium where City play, I always take time to look around and watch the fans and the banners (and what's been printed) to make me feel proud and confident while having a few laughs in between. Banners do create an atmosphere that belongs to the fans and stadium, no matter if they are brilliant or pure rubbish to watch.

I can't imige the view of digital banners yet. It might be better than some of us expect. It might not take away the atmosphere I described before. Who knows we will have a standing area where we are allowed to wave flags and put banners around the block. As it is now however, I very much doubt it will turn out like this. And that would be a pity. It really would ...

hopefully this means we'll be seeing more of the little Etihad plane taking off and landing?

I love watching it during the dull parts of the game

I can only imagine the havoc having moving adverts at pitch level and level 2 will play with my poor eyes.

maybe the digital version could replace "loud , proud , loyal" with "quiet , sanitised , rich"?
In fairness the current version of "loud, proud, loyal" is at best two-thirds accurate and that would be overlooking the South Stand's booing and jeering of Kolarov, which wasn't very loyal.

It was loud though, tbf.

Edit: just noticed your two thirds comment :-(
