I'd like to think I'm wrong, but first home game of the season I forsee 10,000 fans stuck outside the ground as the game kicks off as our shite IT systems fall to pieces.

Even if they don't, as it will take people (especially those with phones in cases) many attempts at least to get the NFC working there will still be massive disruption at the entry points.

Generally it's the people not the systems that are the issue with things like this. Look at the airport coming back from Porto. Massive queues, delayed flights and what seemed like chaos. All because people hadn't filled in the passenger locator form required to travel home which took about 20 mins.
 
I think it's poor that none of us have had details about the new system. There must be thousands of match going supporters are not on BM and also didn't go to the Everton game. Apart from a brief comment in the Seasoncard renewal notice that went out there has been no communication from the Club.
The very least that City should have done for such a fundamental change was to send out a letter (or even an email) detailing how its going to operate. Surely they have everything in place to cope with 50k + (not just the Test Event of 10k) ?
I'm reasonably tech-savvy, with a smartphone NFC enabled, but in the absence of any detail from City I still have misgivings about how successful (or indeed chaotic) this could turn out.

I went to Everton game, my Iphone worked great, dads Android wouldn't work (has NFC) so he had to go to a guy in a grey bib to get in. 50:50 in my experience. Go early is my advice.

These things are like Google / Tripadvisor reviews. You only ever hear about the people who've had a bad experience. Nobody ever talks about the time they had a seamless and forgettable experience.

This is also my concern. City treating us like mushrooms and this all being discussed between us on here rather than them leading the conversation. Personally I'm well aware of the technology but I also don't take my smartphone with me everywhere as I use it more as a laptop replacement. I've an old Nokia brick I take to away games as there is nothing of any value on it. I'll keep on using cards instead of mobile wallets because I choose to and I'll also expect to be able to choose a plastic for my seasoncard. But we'll see what happens
