Digital Tickets

Going to football in Italy is mental though, the way the police act over there you'd think they were on patrol in Guantanamo Bay.

It isn't a condition or all the clubs would be doing it, I think I said on ST thread I recieved physical tickets for another PL club.

City have been working towards this for years as they have the technology in place.
I think you’re right but just hope they’ve done end user testing before they go big bang implementation. I think Captain Cockup won’t be too far away.

Jesus fucking Christ. Half of you lot would still have us paying for pints in shillings and sixpences.

Some things went wrong at the test event v Everton. That's fine. It was a *test event*. The idea is to work out things that need improving and improve them before the season starts.

Mobile ticketing and payments work seamlessly in every other part of life, there's no reason why they won't at football.
You seem to forget that this is not a Bank, Airline or Amazon. It's City and there is nothing in their previous track record to say it will not be a monumental F up. And apart from that the lack of information on the subject from the Club is appalling.

Just find it very strange that the club have not provided more information about digital tickets replacing the cards. Assuming that is where they intend to go. This will be a massive change that will impact on loads. Now would be a good time to explain how it will all work. Can see lots of pros and cons but leave it to the first home game without a better understanding and it will be fckin bedlam.
App on your phone which works with NFC Near Field Communication this is exactly the same as the plastic cards. Same as Apple Pay or Google Pay on your phone instead of the piece of plastic Granted there will be a few people who don’t have a smart phone I guess they could request a plastic card Don’t see why it will cause chaos as suggested it’s nothing new, when we moved to the new stadium NFC was state of the art and the first readers required cards to be put into the reader, rather than just tap, as people hadn’t used tap at the point; was there chaos no and that is as a bigger step than this

Here's a sneak preview of the new system they're rolling out for next season.

But there is an obvious problem with the clubs technical infrastructure because it doesn't work with a degree of certainty. At the Everton game they tried to get me through 3 turnstiles at my allocated entrance and non of them worked even though they confirmed the ticket was active. In the end they just let me in, so the club didn't know if I was in the ground so track and trace was compromised. I hear it's worked great at the euros but City are just shit at this and need to properly test it rather that use us as guinea pigs the first game of the season. Put the guys who installed it and those who agreed to it on the South Stand turnstiles and see if they think it's a good idea 10 minutes before kick off

It's fine providing your phone supports NFC. There are lots of ST holders whose phones don't, mine included, which would mean I'd have to buy a new phone. Our experience trying to get printed tickets after being successful in the lottery for the Everton was a farce. The prospect of doing that every home game isn't appealing.
