Dimitri Seluk (Yaya's agent)

Yaya could still have a lot to offer us.

He is a much better player than Xabi Alonso who featured heavily under Pep at Bayern and IMO could excel in the holding role. The holding role has adapted since the day of Makelele depending on how the side sets up. Rather than being a strictly defensive position, more sides are starting to use the holding role for a player who can dictate the game from deep.

Pirlo, Cazorla, Pjanic, Pizarro and Kroos are examples of players who have been utilised as deep lying playmakers and are not known for their defensive ability.

Whilst Yaya's lung busting runs might be a thing of the past, there are not many players better in world football who are as comfortable in possession, can pick a pass, or score from long range as Yaya.

If he is up for the challenge, has a decent pre-season and loses a bit of timber he could be a vital player for us next season.

100% agree, the only thing wrong with Yaya is that he is totally unfit.

If he wants to stay and play a part, he will get himself fit..

It wouldnt surprise me if we saw a slimmed down version of Yaya next season.

Go away Yaya. At this point you're a glorified Papa Bouba Diop.

I've seen the words 'no sentiment' being used an awful lot on here with regards to Zabaleta, Kompany etc. but Yaya's been shite for two years and, unlike those two, he hasn't looked like he's given a fuck during that time.

Centre mid, centre back, left back(?!), it doesn't make any difference; unless Pep's good with brain transplants/ hypnosis/ shoving a rocket up Yaya's arse, his lack of application will be infuriating once again.

One of his failings in the last couple of seasons is the amount of times he was caught in possession. That can happen to any player though. What's not acceptable is to down tools and not even try to win the ball back (certainly as far as guardiola is concerned). Couple that with toure in a defensive position against a pressing side and you have us conceding goals again.

This all day! Legacy could be revived but I don't wish to see the YoYo of the last 2 years anywhere near my club. 2 stone off would be a good start, I reckon he could fit like a glove in that deep playmaker role, but so could the new boy Gudonghan.

I am very much with you there.
