Dinamo Zagreb (H) post match thread

City were stictched up without VAR (Monaco and Liverpool twice) and are now routinely being stitched up with it (Schalke, Spurs and Zagreb). A blatant handball in the box reviewed and still no penalty given (especially when Otamendi was penalised at Schalke when he had his hands behind his back and the ref reversed his original decision of no penalty even though the VAR screen wasn't working). Then a deja vu of Silva at Bournemouth when Aguero's foot was stamped on. Again reviewed but still no penalty.

We got fucked over last night several times, against the dippers in CL their first goal was offside, we had a good goal disallowed and at least 1 pen not given. Against spurs they scored with a handball, we had a marginal offside decision go against us. Can anyone think of one major dodgy decision that has gone in our favour in the CL? The best I can come up with is that I think we got a corner last night that we should not have got. All of which tells me two things, uefa are as bent as fuck, and even they know we are shit at corners

VAR didn't fail per se, just the incompetent refereeing crew - hopefully UEFA will deal with them appropriately.

As for the match, read a lot of complaining in the match thread about the play and I remain a bit baffled tbh. Some great football played on the night, not every match is going to be a fiesta of goals but Pep has his teams relentless in the search for a goal - even when you face opposition who sit 10 in the box. If you complain about that, not sure you'll ever be happy with football on a regular basis. There was so much to like

Even Gundogan who seemed to get a bit of stick, was a standout performer on the night for me. Rodri clearly influenced the match, the perfect sort of match for him to be proactive since Zagreb sat deep. Sterling made the difference but they were always very close.

Only criticism I could think of really apart from Mendy's condition was the use of Foden. In midfield I tend to not really question Pep but I would like to see him rotate more between him & D.Silva - at the very least, make the switch between the two sooner in a match (even by minute 60). City look terrific, if they can stay healthy the sky is the limit

We know referees in thus competition are poor and inconsistent. It doesn’t help when you have refs from farmers leagues with part time players elevated to officiate at the highest level. Thought we did well last night. Final ball was lacking and we missed some good opportunities which meant for a nervy last few minutes every time they go to not our half. Zagreb were poor and offered no real threat in a game we totally controlled.

Yes the rose accidental handball at spurs last season , unfortunately Sergio missed so it gets forgotten about on here, l

Did we lose ???

Going off this thread you’d think so. It was a very comfortable game in the end. Lots of pointless moaning on here

Yes thought I was in the glory glory Tottenham hotspur forum for a moment too much negativity. After that shite on Monday night and spurs ha ha things are going great for us. But you wouldn't think so

Bit of a labourbed performance for me saying that if we would have took our first half chances we could have been talking watford scorelines and we never looked troubled at the back mendy still looks miles off full fitness but cancelo looked very good wen he finally got forward rodri just gets better and better.

Game was dull. Opponents massed in all-out defence. I don't think Ederson had a save to make.

The entertainment came at the end when Sterling came on and he cut them to pieces but prior to that we were wasteful in front of goal against opponents who were limited. This is Champions League group stage football, but the latter stages are very exciting, and we are getting there.

It was a shame that the ground was not full. It takes a lot away from the occasion when there are empty seats. Dinamo fans were excellent.

Cant be bothered reading back on the comments on here but the few i have seen comment about the negativity.
We played well last night & tried everything to unlock a very well organised defence & get round a refereeing performance that was bizarre at times.
We will never all agree which makes for good debate but the bloke behind me last night who continually said we were clueless needs to go and watch someone else if he thinks we really were clueless!!!!!

Mendy was OK I thought. A bit slow but much better on the ball. Scarcely misplaced a pass and he was our go to man until Sterling came on when it all changed.

Played well enough I thought against a flat back 10 and some of the worst officiating I've seen since well..............the last time we got shafted in this bent competition.

Yep, as a club the CL is a must to maintain the financial growth and to attract top players to our fantastic team. It’s sad that all we see on here is negative comments, those that don’t give a shit are entitled to their opinion but why keep posting on a competition they supposedly don’t give a fuck about?

Did anyone see any Zagreb fans being arrested? Ripping out seats and throwing bottles into both sections of City fans and even striking riot Police yet didn’t see a single one of them carted out.

One of GMP’s finest in the full riot gear outside the ground at the end was shouted at by a few Blues asking why they didn’t do their job, and he did a crying and wiping tears motion with his face and hands.
None mate, was in “kippax corner” last night, their fans were utter c***s, the lot of them and the stewards were no better. There were some younger kids near the front and when one of the families tried to move the stewards wouldn’t let them. Probably not the best idea for them to get tickets there in the first place but you would expect the stewards to be a bit more understanding considering that the next block along had quite a few free seats.
As for the police they seemed more interested in removing City fans who were doing nothing, rather than policing the real problem.

Got back from game late and just logged on thinking I'd be reading posters eulogising about an excellent team performance where we hunted in packs, tackled extremely well, created opportunities every time we got the ball, worked incredibly hard throughout and didn't allow the one disappointment, finishing, to deter us.
Clearly not.
