You may not agree with them, but most football fans around the world think the CL is more important. So if City are to achieve the maximum fanbase/commercial exposure that the owners seek, then we have to be seen to be doing well in the competition and preferably winning it from time to time. Now you may argue that it is because we've been unlucky or that UEFA have fixed it against us but any way you look at it we have underachieved in that competition compared to where we are at as a team.

Not talking about round the world. I don't know one PL fan who would swap the league for the CL. And no City fan last year. While Scousers would have bit your hand off to do the reverse last season.

ooooouch. God this is the easiest opponent we have ever faced in UCL
6 or 7 - 0 easy , easier game than schalke last season

Ooh what a tease you are.

I expect a tough game and will be happy with a win.

Looking forward to seeing some exciting talent from the Balkans tomorrow night

Al lot of fans would love to br in the CL its mainly City fans that have a grievance with the CL.
It's not that long ago when we thought the premier league was shit remember when our friends down the road used to be good and we were a yo yo club

Trouble with Champions League is you can finish 4th in your own League lose loads of games be20 points plus behind the leaders and with a bit of luck get to the final with only winning a handful of matches .The quaulifying group is usualy a bit of a miss match .Its a money making racket.after saying that i think we should have least got to a couple of semi finals by now and last season was best chance to get to the final .Here is a bit of Trivia how many teams that won Champions League in last 15 years were champions of there own league ?

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night - always get excited to see City against opponents I've not seen before.

Zagreb have a bad away record in Europe, but of course you never know in football.

So is the premier league

Assuming KDB unavailable

Ederson
Cancelo Garcia Fernandinho Mendy
Gundogan Rodri Silva
Bernardo Aguero Jesus

Bravo Otamendi Walker Zinchenko Foden Sterling Mahrez

Good chance to see Cancelo and Mendy in action, Gundogan and silva in midfield to keep possession (which will be key with that defence). In attack Jesus would go up front next to Sergio with Bernardo tucking into midfield.

I find it disappointing reading comments about not being interested and not being sucked into Champions league scheme etc.
My team are playing so I am going to watch. That’s it. I don’t care about which competition it is. I don’t care who the opponents are. I care about watching my team, just like I did at Preston last week in another cup that people aren’t bothered about and against poorer opponents.
£45 for three group games. Great value.
It’s everyones personal choice whether they attend or not but it’s almost like if people don’t want to go then they feel the need to justify themselves on here and want no one else to go either.

Excellent post....I'm exactly the same as you.

Just in case you haven't got a ticket yet, there's plenty available according to JJ at the guardian......

The challenge of igniting fan interest is reflected in large swaths of tickets still being available for the match against the Croatian champions.

No idea what to expect from them. I'd be tempted to start Cancelo but he isn't going to be coming into a stable defence with the amount of injuries we have.

I'd be more than happy with a 1-0. Ever the pessimist.

No idea how many tickets they’ve sold for tonight but it must’ve been minuscule. My sisters school have been given hundreds, I’ve got 3 free ones and they’ve been told they’ll have the same amount each group match. NHS have been given a couple of thousand, TC staff now been given some, and how many other schools?

Thing is, I struggle, really struggle to get “up” for these CL games. Doesn’t feel a conscious decision but I find the competition a bit “meh”. Don’t get me wrong I want to win, I’ll cheer and shout etc but genuinely if you ask me do I want a trip to Istanbul in Cl final in May, or Wembley for the Carabao Final in March, then I choose the latter. Don’t know why.

See you guys there tonight
