If Fulham had brought as many as Port Vale we'd have had 46-47,000 there at least. For a match against Championship opposition, kicking off at 1pm on a Sunday and live on free-to-air TV it's not terrible.
Pep can't really win when he's asked a question like that but a more diplomatic answer wouldn't go amiss. Something like "I only worry about the team" or even go on the front foot and say "Did you ask Olé Gunnar Solskjær that question on Wednesday when there were loads of empty seats?"
The BBC chose our game , a free footy match on the telly is a rarity nowadays and is bound to effect the attendance , and who is first to stick the boot in because we only had the third highest attendance of the round , the BBC.

The problem is common to most people in the football world, they have no grasp of financial reality.
The cost of going to football is outrageous, and most "normal" people who go on a regular basis have to make sacrifices to do so.

I would also add nearly 40k for a game watching City's 2nd team against a poorly supported Championship team and with a derby on Wednesday is a very decent attendance.
Pep is on something north of 13million a year and a 100k watch on his wrist, got to say he disappointing me with his comments.

I'll repeat some of what I said in the Match thread.
Don't see why he shouldn't be disappointed with the turnout. I know I was disappointed not to see more people in the stadium but that is not a dig. I traveled up today from Oxfordshire but I also decided that I won't use my ticket on Wednesday (someone will though). I do understand why people don't go to games like this but it's still disappointing when the ground is not full.
You can certainly understand why Pep is hoping for a better turnout for a Derby and wants our support to get behind the team.
He didn't appear to be whinging to me and I think he was far more focused on having people come and really get behind the team on Wednesday because he knows that tie is not won yet and his biggest enemy is complacency on the pitch and, to a lesser degree, in the stands.
If the stadium had been packed yesterday and the fans had been baying for blood rather than offering up the occasional half-hearted "Com'n City", we might have seen some more urgency on the field...
He criticised his team yesterday so why should he big up the supporters?
I'm sure BTW, he knows of the possible reasons for people not being there, including Fulham not being a big draw but he wouldn't say that.
