"Disappointing" attendances

True but he just gave a matter of fact answer to a question he should not have been asked in the first place.

I'll repeat some of what I said in the Match thread.

Don't see why he shouldn't be disappointed with the turnout. I know I was disappointed not to see more people in the stadium but that is not a dig. I traveled up today from Oxfordshire but I also decided that I won't use my ticket on Wednesday (someone will though). I do understand why people don't go to games like this but it's still disappointing when the ground is not full.

You can certainly understand why Pep is hoping for a better turnout for a Derby and wants our support to get behind the team.

He didn't appear to be whinging to me and I think he was far more focused on having people come and really get behind the team on Wednesday because he knows that tie is not won yet and his biggest enemy is complacency on the pitch and, to a lesser degree, in the stands.

If the stadium had been packed yesterday and the fans had been baying for blood rather than offering up the occasional half-hearted "Com'n City", we might have seen some more urgency on the field...

He criticised his team yesterday so why should he big up the supporters?

I'm sure BTW, he knows of the possible reasons for people not being there, including Fulham not being a big draw but he wouldn't say that.
Of course that is all true, but then there wouldn’t be anything to moan about if people wrapped their heads around that so better to call him a dick, or nob or any other insult they can throw at him.

That may be true but it sure doesnt help when our manager brings it up without any prompting from the interviewer....
You're right. Pep raised it but if he had not have raised it, we would have on here.

We need a passionate home support behind the team. That's why we have the 1894 group and endless topics about crowds.

City's crowds are trending higher, significantly so but we're still behind Man Utd and Liverpool because a fan base is built up over a generation. Man Utd's fanbase seems to be cracking so they should keep quiet.

Given we kick off like fuck when anyone mentions an empty seat at our ground some of our fans/posters are just as fucking bad!

It was a leading question that the gaffer answered honestly and its been twisted to suit the narrative the BBC wanted.

Dont fucking fall for it.

Media and everyone have got to leave the fans be on this one. Not a lot Pep could do when asked the question, the issue is that they always ask it about us, not a fucking peep when we played at United and everyone disappeared.

We play more games than everyone else, probably have the most games arranged at short notice, one of the most televised teams, fans from a lot of deprived areas around Manchester and some of the shittest weather. All of which have an effect on why people can't make games.

39000 for a game where you know we're going to rotate and still win comfortably isn't too bad.

It'll be packed in just a couple of days for yet another game, people just need to put things into perspective.

From what I have seen it was far from a leading question Pep brought it so the reporter asked why do you think that was .....nothing leading in that ;)

Not having it and my guess is something has been said.

5 mins from the end of the game the BBC started on the empty seats and it carries on into the interviews.

Fuck em.

Except that he apparently brought the subject up unprompted.

Did he? I've only seen an edited clip and he appears to be answering a question but his starting point seems to be regarding the upcoming semi-final where, he, not unreasonably, wants plenty of support. I think that was his focus but that's just my interpretation.
