"Disappointing" attendances

The best incentive for derby attendance would be the knowledge that the team will turn up for more than 45 minutes.

We went on the beach second half last time. Previous time they ripped us to shreds first half because of Keystone Cops defending. Then there was the 2-3. Going further back, we threw a league cup tie, paving the way for Mourinho to go on and win it.

Understanding local rivalry would a step forward. These games are different. We don’t show mercy against our quiet neighbours. We don’t bull up their istree or the GPC’s achievements. It’s a game where we don’t prioritise the following match. If we’re 2-0 up, we go for 4. If we’re 9-0 up we go balls out for 10.

A crushing victory on Wednesday would do much to put the current hoo-hah back in its box.

You don't think he understands a Derby rivalry?

You don't think he wants to crush his opponents?

No problem with him talking about attendances, if he does it in a non-dickhead way. There's loads of ways he could have said it less annoyingly.
There's loads of way you can come across less annoyingly on your vlogs.
If you do that you'll attract more people. if you do it in a non dickhead way of course; )

I dare say if we were all on Pep's wages the ground would be full for every match.
The fact is, going to football ain't cheap these days. And I'm pretty sure that most people in Manchester and hereabouts are on less than the national average wage. There's another much more important and far more attractive match on Wednesday. At least some people will be choosing one or the other, and Sunday's game was live on BBC, making that choice a no-brainer.
BTW, how many grounds are full for FA cup ties these days? There seem to be empty seats visible at most grounds. In fact in some cases in the last round, whole stands were empty.
If you want to ground full every time the best way would be to make a typical admission price the equivalent of 25p in 1968 (inflation added.) It would also help if the shocking public transport was improved and the cheesy "entertainment" binned.

The fact is we dont have a big enough fan base to fill our ground every game. Many fans have stopped going for a variety of reasons .The club head sheds should have concentrated on building the fan base instead of Tunnel Club ect .While the club and players might have lots of money the ordinary fans haven't. Kick of times certainly dont help

You don’t think Pep walked straight into a media trap and came off as dismissive of our support?

Loads of City fans calling it out. I’m as big a fan of Pep as anyone but these aren’t the sort of comments you want your own manager to be making.

They also show a complete lack of understanding of the situation.

Well, after a 200 mile round trip I ended up sat on my own as those few mates who still bother with the early rounds of the Cups were stuck on two delayed trains from different areas of the country. One had got the earliest train he could and ended up turning around at Birmingham and going home to watch it on telly, rather than getting to the stadium for the last 20 mins.
Last season on the Cup schemes for me.
40k and you could have heard a pin drop yesterday.
Fulham fans, who could have all come in a taxi, incapable of helping whip up some atmosphere because they don't have any songs about their own team.
Signs there's going to be roadworks on the A57 past Denton for the best part of a year, when travel to night games is already a mare.
Wembley tickets available to anyone who wants one, irrespective of being on a scheme.
Every game on TV or a stream - and I actually paid out good money to be fucked around by TV, then sit in the rain and watch a match with less atmosphere than my front room?
I didn't see Pep's interview as a pop at the fans, more at the club, but they've got one more empty seat to sell to the tourists, kids and away fans who increasingly populate the stands for Cup games. They don't seem that bothered; it's almost like we're an inconvenience to them. Still, the walk to the ground behind a marching band looks embarr.... erm, nice if you're under 12.
I don't see it improving at all next season - if anything it'll get worse - so fuck it.
And it's a slippery slope - I've seen it happen with mates. First it's the aways, then the midweek Cup games, then it's the televised games, then there seems little point have a season ticket. It's an easy habit to lose when you suddenly realise you've got loads more money in your pocket and loads more time on your hands.

I don't think he was dismissive of out support. He just said it wasn't full (completely correct) and that he hoped there would be more there for the semi-final (which I'm sure he and everyone else does). Hardly controversial stuff.
