"Disappointing" attendances

I know he's a gobby Rag at times but Pete Boyle firmly put a Liverpool fan spouting off about City's attendance yesterday in his place, pointing out that in the season they won the FA Cup in 2000-2001, Liverpool played home ties in the 3rd and 5th rounds where there were 6000 away fans present at both, and the the gates were 29000 and 38000. I decided to look this up and while his figures weren't totally accurate, they were close enough. In the 3rd round against Rotherham the attendance was 30689 so slightly more than Boyle stated, but to counter that their crowd in the 5th round was only 36231, not 38000. That tie was against us by the way, and there were indeed 6000 of us blues there.

Bottom line, we don't have a big enough supporter base at the moment and it's expensive for people to go to every single match.

Having said that, people really need to toughen up - I have no issues with Pep trying to stir fans up into going. No need to get so defensive about it.

Not read the whole thread but did any interviewer ask OGS about the thousands of empty seats v Burnley last week?
Peps response to a loaded question wasnt the best but this could have been taken out of his hands if the club would have adopted the £10 adult and £1 for kids approach for a game broadcast live on terrestrial TV.
