So the programme Tonight which is on now are covering the polluted rivers, the other week it was the state of the NHS and people being left in ambulances waiting to be seen by a doctor, raw sewage being dumped into our seas, people starting to strike for better living standards, police understaffed more young people being murdered on the streets, this country is Fucked beyond anything we have ever seen.

Lawyer on the radio today was talking about the backlog in the courts.
If they increased the number of police, more crimes would get solved, so more cases in the courts, so a bigger backlog. If they increased the capacity of the courts we'd need bigger prisons.
Low rates of solving crime saves the state money.

It’s getting significantly worse. People have seen their money erode even with working tax credits and the tax cuts we’ve all seen in the last decade.
The solution is largely simple and probably cost neutral for the state. Stop paying tax credits for people working full time - companies need to pay what’s right and not get backed up by the state (some exceptions can apply for small businesses etc). Use the savings to uplift the PS to a fair wage, then agree to pay PS workers previous year inflation + 2% (or whatever your inflationary target is). Perhaps even a few quid left over to offer extra support for the unemployed/pensioners. In return for this we, as members of the public, should contribute to the system fairly - if you can work, work. If you work, pay your taxes (we all know cash in hand builders and the such) - use the NHS with thought (not just because you can’t get a doctors appointment that suits you) - don’t be a **** to doctors / nurses / teachers / dibble or the fire folk. They are doing a job for you.
