Well if the Polls are correct and the Politics sub forum is an accurate reflection of public opinion Labour should walk the next General Election.
For them to be successful, they are going to have to make certain pre election promises, not to convince the converts on here, but, Jo Public that they are fit to take up Office.
I am so looking forward to the jubilant celebrations of a Labour General Election victory and then reading the comments on here, 6 months later, once the realisation sets in that nothing has really changed.

The scary part is the problems are that entrenched, I not sure anyone could do much in one term of office.

Labour may well get in but soon the media will turn on them as it will suit their agenda.

Sad view. It wont change in 6 months will it? This needs generational change. Will take a decade of policy changes to see this fix itself and then see how that changes things in the decade after that. The people of the UK have been so badly served, and let down, and taken for granted, and lied to.

Nothing is going to change , that’s my whole point.
It will be a different face telling the same old story
Just take a couple of items picked from the few policies Labours have said they will deal with.
VAT on private school fees, the burden it will place on public sector school places, as the cost of implementing this policy will far outweigh any benefits.
Bankers bonuses.The tax take from National Insurance ER’S & EE’s and higher rate income tax is way higher than Corporation Tax rates.
So it will be very interesting to see where the money is coming from to pay for the Utopia that so many on here yearn for but is an unrealistic wish list.

Nobody expects “utopia”, you clown. Most of would just like a government of competent people who don’t lie about everything. Then they can start to improve things day by day, week by week, month by month by making the right decisions instead of the wrong ones.

The take from Corporation Tax is woefully low because that’s how it’s designed to be. Our Government likes to fleece the workers. Wealthy corporations and individuals pay very little tax in the UK.

If you Tax too high it takes away the incentive to go out and earn whether it’s personal or corporate taxes.
But correct in your last sentence and you can be assured that Labour will not rock the boat with their manifesto

Fleece the workers? Then why is National Insurance higher for Employers than Employees?

US Corporation Tax rates are approx double the UK and form about a third of the total tax take whereas in the UK it is less than 10% of the total.

I have no idea what Labour will or won’t do but it is high time the people of this country wake up to the fact that they are being shafted.

Perhaps the current spate of industrial action is a sign of an awakening. I hope so.
