It's become his obsession

I love the way some posters try and drag these debates down to playground level.

Yeh. I hate Fernandinho. Never met him, but I bet he smells.

Fernandinho lacks technical ability and there isn't much between him and GARCIA? Heard it all now. Talk about going to great lengths to try and justify your premature opinions of a player. He showed yesterday he is a superior and more intelligent player than Fellaini, who is just a bully with decent footballing skills. He's been a defensive beast in our last two games with tackles (8) and interceptions (10) galore across the two games. He reads the play very, very well and has made some very crucial interceptions that can be quickly forgotten with the speed of the game. It's all about getting the balance right and we're starting to now.

Finally someone who watches the same football i do.

Yesterday he made soooooo many important interceptions that it wasn't even funny
I guess just because he doesn't win the ball with a De jong tackling, it isn't applauded.
You can see from the start of the season, that he has taken things slowly, and are now much more focused on his primary job, which is reading the play and stopping it before it gathers to much pace. In a few months when is he synchronized better with the team you will see his other abilities, witch is 40 yards darting forward passes, and running with the ball to like a cheetah on hunt.
You can quote me on that!

He's also got the snap of a De Jong tackle in his locker, we just haven't seen it yet!

Fernandinho is just a fantastic footballer.

He has taken on board the job Pellegrini has asked him to do v Utd & done it to an absolutely world class level. It isn't his natural game, but he is so good, he excelled at it when needed. He's only a small bloke but he was winning headers v people much bigger, spotting runs, filing gaps, at times he was actually playing in the centre back position to snuff out danger.

If he was asked to play further forward for a period, he would just adapt, learn & do it to the same standard as the other attacking mids. He is absolute class, full stop.

I can't believe you are bracketing those two together. Fernandinho is mobile, a battler and a good passer. I think he can show a lot more drive when released from the holding role too. Imagine having yaya alongside you like he did against Cardiff, hull and stoke. You wouldn't know what he was going to do next. Drop deep for the ball, drive 50 yards forward, pass backwards, pass long. It would be a nightmare for a midfielder at a new club. That's why he suddenly looked more composed and assured on Sunday, with yaya sitting 15 yards ahead of him.

Garcia isn't a patch on him in this league because he can't run.

Fernandinho is going to face physical challenges week in and week out now. He is pushed off the ball too easily and lacks the technical ability to create space for himself. That was very evident on Sunday. His talents are in quick passes and interceptions, not battles. Garcia is the physically stronger, if less mobile of the two, but I would say that there isn't much to choose between them in terms of overall ability and value to the squad.

Do you watch football after drinking large amounts of alcohol
Hahahahahahaha !!! You beat me to that question lool !

I'm sure he doesn't hate him. I'm sure he's just a football fan with an honest opinion.

I don't think we've seen the best of Fernandinho yet. We've already seen glimpses of how he can provide passes from deep in a way that Barry only managed once or twice a season. In terms of attacking football, he's a definite upgrade on either Barry or Garcia. However, he is the signing that has been least impressive so far but that role is often understated. Only the truly world-class shine as deep-lying midfielders and let's face it, it is correct that Yaya is pushed forward so someone's got to do it. If he helps us build attacks faster by picking out passes that Garcia and Barry weren't consistently capable of, it's a step forward.

Negredo is looking to be the best signing so far. Been really impressed by him. Think he's given us a whole host of new dimensions. Good at winning long balls, good at holding up, has played some beautifully weighted balls i.e. derby and Plzen assists.

I'm riding a wave of optimism at the moment. Two good results in a week, and the only team who should/could be capable of stopping us, Chelsea, looking distinctly average. I'm not writing them off as they could still come good with the talent they have but this title is ours for the taking. Bit of consistency on the road and it's ours.

Saw De Jong play for Milan vs Napoli. He was great with some of the sliding tackles that so typify him. But then I discoverred he had to make these tackles because he was sometimes late reacting or in a wrong position. He makes up a lot bacause he is simply an expert in sliding tackles. Than, after watching City vs scum relive, I wasn't blinded by nerves and watched particularly Fernandinho. Because he reads the game so welll, he rarely needs to make a sliding tackle. And he plays in deep direct passes foreward whenever the opportunity is there. De Jong only gave the ball to someone closeby.
De Jong was great, but not a regular starter for us. Fernandinho, who by the way is still adjusting a different role than when at Shaktar, will be one of the most important players of this squad. And he will be a regular starter.

Bare in mind that in most games this season we had played a 4-2-2-2 and come up against teams playing 3 or 5 in midfield I think Fernandinho has been fantastic for us. We all know that Toure is world class but the one thing he does lack is getting back into position quickly. So for us to have a defensive and possession record as we currently have means Ferna can't be doing a bad job even more so when considering we are normally outnumbered in the middle of the park.

I'll stick my neck out here and say that Fernandinho is the most important player we have signed. A few years ago people wanted to start NDJ and Barry so that Yaya could be pushed forward. Fernadinho alone allows Yaya to push further up. In effect he can do the NDJ and Barry job combined.

Garcia and Fernandinho are both technically good, but limited players. They read the game well and because of that they are good at breaking up opposition moves. What they both lack is creativity.

Garcia is never going to be a superstar and neither is Fernandinho. But they are both decent players who can carry at a limited role in the team very well.

They are not in the side to create. They are in there to destroy and keep jt simple.

Fern has produced some sublime forward passes in both preseason and competitive games, the kind that show vision, intelligence and touch.

At least one of his many interceptions on Sunday gets the sublime award. I think it was just inside the box (North Stand end of ground) and he nicked a ball and laid it off to, I think, Vinnie. Had me purring at the time and when I saw it again on TV.
