Discuss Pellegrini (Pt 3)

I've noticed a return of the heart palpitations that existed pre takeover and that sickly feeling in the pit of my stomach. I wonder if the club will subsidise the cost of the pepto I will now be consuming by the bucket load ;)

As a self-confessed Pellgrini "Outer", I must admit that I'm encouraged that the team appears to be playing well and winning some away games and was especially pleased to see him adopt a more cautious approach against Chelsea, which shows he is tactically flexible after all.

However, I still do not believe Pelligrini will help us to win the league this year, as a spectator on the outside of the club, he just doesn't inspire that "never say die attitude" or a general feeling that the players will sweat blood for him, unlike baconface did for the scum.

Brought NOTHING new to the team.

We have same exact issues we had under Mancini. Plus has almost zero passion on the sidelines.

Sorry, but his signing will turn out a failure.

Pellegrini has brought nothing?

What about the way we now pass through teams? What about the chances we create? What about the way we play football on the front foot around the oppositions box? What about the way our world class players now dominate games? The improvement in our fringe players? The additional width we have and the balls we ping into the box? The goals and chances we create from free kicks? The way we suddenly aren't fazed by defensive teams?

We are conceding silly goals, but the way we play has changed dramatically this season.
And a majority of the silly goals has been down to individual errors. Cardiff and Bayern Munich were issues with the system, but he seems to have adapted quickly. As far as what he's brought, he's completely revitalized Nasri and Kolarov. If Negredo and Fernandinho were bought on his recommendation, those are positives as well.

Agreed. The one big black mark was bayern at home- if we'd set up like yesterday that could have been a different game.

I will also throw in the way he has unleashed yaya in the last half dozen games. A manager learns about his players through games and I can see that happening.

Wonder why he doesn't fancy Micah at CB. Very strange if there is no injury

Pellegrini hasn't worked much with Micah. He didn't take part in pre season, not long back from a lengthy injury. I can understand that Pellegrini would want him to concentrate on the RB position at least initially.

I do like the variation at free kicks but the style of the team is not vastly different. We dominated pretty much every game last year, created plenty of chances but the massive difference between last season and our championship winning season is our conversion of chances.

Defensively we are much poorer and fringe players I would guess include Lescott and Rodwell who have failed to impress under his management with Clichy and Hart playing a lot worse. Personally I am not sure the the degree a manager, for or against, can claim credit for player performance so I would not criticise Pellegrini for that.

The additional width has found its place on the bench as we have reverted to Silva and Nasri on either flank exactly the same selection Mancini preferred.

The side is performing worse currently, however things can change, defensively things need to improve we seem to lack basic organisation. We can highlight Harts mistake but we could have easily conceded a three or four before half time.

It's a wonder why people still think Micah can play CB. He does not have the positional awareness nor the composure on the ball that is required. At RB his pace and power is a great asset and means he can recover if out of position. But he is not CB material. As DD commented, Garcia is the most composed on the ball, more so than Lescott by a mile, and so he was able to play the ball out to one of our midfielders. He comes under criticism so therefore anything he does badly is picked up. But he has performed well. I wouldn't include him week in week out, but he benefited from his spell at CB judging by his performance yesterday where he was composed. He did not give the ball away anymore than the other midfielders.

Micah can play at centre back, is more than capable at centre back, has strength, speed and is very good at tackling. He is 100 times the player Garcia is at centre back and has more experience playing at centre back in our defence than either Garcia and demichellis. I'm actually surprised anyone could take any other opinion . His only issue is Injuries

Its was pleasing to see that mp changed his tactics yesterday so thats a huge positive for me .

Unfortunately hw chose to pur garcia into midfield and ib tge firat hald the holes ibfront of our back 4 were there for all to see, esp iscar who kepr finding space there!!!!.

Choosing demichelis to have his first game therei rhink wasnt the best and here were two occasions of real school boy defending from him

Pellers said publicly thar he wint play micah at centre half...that is firstly poor to do it publicly and secondly a poor decusion on the whole. Whatever his opubions of richards as a centre half if he rhinks garcia is a better centre half than richards he needs his eyes testing......and richards would have been a better choice yesterday

I think we will find out a massive amount about Pellegrini over the next week or so.
He has a huge decision to make with Joe and a lot of us will judge him by how he handles this situation.
Personally I do hope he takes the lad out of the spotlight for a few games at least. Bacon face did this when De Gea had his wobbly spell a few years back and the rest us history.
Big call.

Best post ever me rhinks

Amazing we're not bashing the manager for not playing Micah at centre half when the previous three managers have all also avoided playing him at centre half like the plague!
