Really Bob ... if I wanted to score points I'd simply post the things you said when Mancini was being urged to drop Joe. I made a light hearted comment and you've come back gnashing your teeth which is totally unnecessary.

We could both post endless things each other have said and what difference would it make ? You and I are and have never been at war Mr Shears and I've had to climb down off my horse in the case of fernandinho recently and apologise profusely for doubting him. I think Joe should be first choice. He proved his quality so many times. Mistakes are part of deffending and he made them just few comparing with our last deffending line. 50% goals we got were for poor deffending tactics and for MP not being able to solve that problem. For example, Roma in Italy has 10 streight wins with only one goal in their net, new liga record. We played away leading 1:2 and then lose game 3:2. Joe become victimized by MP and fans, but the true problem is with MP. Since beggining of this season in several occassions I posted that something is wrong with our deffense. If MP can not find solution then MC should hire world class proffessional advisor just for deffending part (as mentioned above - no better then Italian)
Also it would be bad for English national team that Joe is benched permanently which will deffinetly coused his form to be ruined before WC.

What are you talking about? After we lost to villa hart was publicly backed by the manager and kept in the team. The next home game the crowd were signing his name repeatedly and loudly. No one has victimised him.

And of course any decision made has to be in the interests of Manchester city first, joe hart second and England not at all.

I'd support Pellegrini's decision either way. Stick with him and hope he regains confidence from the faith shown, or drop him because Pantilimon deserves a go. Both can be justified. I can remember watching an interview with Peter Schmeichel one time and he said that dropping a keeper is the worst thing you can do in his mind and made a compelling case for a keeper's confidence being a unique thing in the football world due to the psychology of the keeper's position and how their responsibility differs from the team responsibility of outfield positions. I couldn't quote his arguments with surety but I can remember being convinced by it. On the other hand, I've seen instances of keepers thriving on competition and bouncing back after some time off...

I think we've got general defensive issues too and that Hart was a long way from bearing sole responsibility for Chelsea's winner but the decline in Hart's form is absolutely undeniable. The stats have it in plain black and white that his save percentages have taken a tumble over the past year. There's no way to get around that. His job is to make saves and he was the league's best shot stopper in the 11/12 season. Last season, TEN Premier League sides had first-choice keepers with better save percentages. From 1st to 11th. That's the extent of Joe Hart's decline. There's no escaping it.

Pelegrini should of come out in his press conference saying harts playing tomorrow and all keepers go through spells like this and Joe has been working extra hard with the coaching staff and back four all week and he will come through this!!
