Discuss Pellegrini (Pt 4)

I have no doubts about him at all at home. This is superb stuff, some of the best I have ever seen at home. I thought we looked like scoring every time we attacked and when you think of Aguero's chance in the first half that Lloris saved, Nasris shot hitting the bar, Fernandinho miss and Negredo free header over the bar, it really could have been 10!

For some reason, and I can't explain it, this is not working as well away from home. We had all the possession at Sunderland but hardly looked like scoring.

Hopefully the tide will turn at West Brom and then Southampton and Fulham. All winnable games albeit the first two tougher than the last. 7 points out of 9 from those and 10 from our next 4 at home would leave us in a very strong position going into January and its very doable on paper. Wouldn't surprise me the way we play at home to get all 12.

With Kompany back and Silva due back, if we can keep everyone fit then we should go on a good run of picking points up now.

If we get less than 5 from those 3 away games then questions have to be asked.

Every City fan, anywhere in the world, will have been thrilled and delighted by today's performance and by the result. It shows clearly that we have the best team in the PL and the best group of players this club has ever had. We should stroll to the PL title based on our home form. But at home we have been irresistible and brushed aside (Hull excepted) all the teams we have met as though they were annoying insects. And our home matches have had us play teams from the top half of the table in the main, apart from Norwich (7-0 though) and Hull. We murdered United with the display of the season so far, and today we never really needed to get out of second gear to hand Spurs a lesson they'll never forget.

I cannot see any real challenger to that City team, and I look forward to a long series of wins. But that has been the case since we demolished Newcastle. I sat back and waited for the performance and win at Cardiff, but it never came, and each home win has been followed by a massive disappointment away. We haven't even looked a pale shadow of ourselves as we are when we play at home. We've been unrecognisable. We've played worse teams away than at home, but our title romping form at home has been replaced by results away which are no better than those of a team fighting relegation. It's no use saying City have played well away, we haven't: we've been as wretched away as we have been magnificent at home. This was our problem this morning and it's still our problem tonight. We have to start winning on our travels.

Forgot which pundit said it they said allowing a home side to have meaningless possession and then hitting them on the counter might be the best way to win away from home. We know we have a team that can dominate possession but as many on here have said we slow the game down that way and have spouts of meaningless possession of our own. Giving the opposing side possession means they can't have 10 behind the ball. The attacking display today was vintage Malaga with a tweak to our players. Winning the ball and then immediately pressing forward and our width opens teams up on our ground.

Said it before todays game and i will say it again.

We are going to win the league this season and possibly more with this guy in charge :-)

Whats not to like?

Lets hope its not the game after the lord mayors show next week. We should be able to go on a run now and hopefully be top by the new year and take this league by the scruff of the neck.

Great performance today. Interesting to see Pellegrini opt for a much more counter attacking approach.

The wing play was fantastic today which begs the question can we only play that way without Silva.

You do have to wonder why we come so far below that level away.

Perhaps we will win the league. but our current position doesn't suggest that. Especially in light of how deadly we are at home, and impotent on the road.

We still have away games at:

United, Southampton, WestBrom, Liverpool, Arsenal, Totenham, Everton, Swansea, and Newcastle. Pretty much still have to go to everyone in the top 10 except for Chelsea... This suggests we are in the easy part of our schedule, and yet we are not taking advantage.

Bollocks to apologising for that.
I sang it because I was supporting what was in front of me not that was ahead of me.
