Be careful NQ, there's some on here would have you believe he turned water into wine with Villareal

Personally I think his ability to turn Mancini into dust at City was far more impressive than anything he did at Villareal ... ;)

Seriously though ... you should have a little more faith. Pellegrini's a top manager who is going to be very successful with City. His achievements at Villareal and Malaga are spectacular. It's why he's such a widely respected coach by not just pundits, but players and other managers within football.

He did. Marcos Senna's best years was under Pellegrini to the extent that he won Euro 2008 with Spain.

They made the final 4 of the Uefa cup before he arrived though. Hardly water. Riquelme was a stunning player.

Erm he was struggling at Barcelona before Pellegrini signed him at Villareal.

I think I`ll go with what I see with my own eyes & make my own judgement , previous form may get you a job but its worth nothing after that.

Just to complete the circle the same shit which was thrown at the inners last year is being thrown by the very same people at the Pellegrini inners, I feel like I have woken up in a parallel universe

My point all along has been Pellegrini didn't sign him.

If it was Mancini's first year in charge in another country then it would be wise to at least give him a season.

He did. Marcos Senna was already at Villareal.

Oh come on ,he's had his 11 games now let's move on .We are disgustingly rich now ,we don't need a manager who's not won us everything by November anymore .Whats up with you !

I'm not displaying faith or a lack of it I figured I'd just try and clear some of the myths around a good job he did at Villarreal.

In fairness I think in the cold harsh terms of results they are not spectacular. Good, yes. Spectacular, not for me.

Riquelme joined on loan in 2003 Pellegrini in 2004.

Billy, I wouldn't go as far as spectacular, it would have been if he got some silverware- as has been pointed out Villareal were already a very good side before he pitched his tent.

There are plenty of nice guys who are popular with players and pundits- ask Harry Redknapp

It's all a bit underwhelming , we still struggle against teams that park the bus so in that respect it's déjà vue.Defensively with or without Vinny we are a shambles, Hart on the bench which for me is poor man management.Outside the top four beckons- we lost 4 away from home in the PL last season- we have already matched that after eleven games.

I hope it works Billy I really do, I'm just amused at the blind faith in a man who's won no cups or titles at his three previous clubs.

-- Thu Nov 14, 2013 9:08 pm --
