With Ancelotti out of the race, Klopp seemingly out in the cold and Pep likely staying I'm siding with keeping Pellegrini.

I've liked what I've seen from him lately he's shown pragmatism and grit, even a renewed vigour - I do wonder if it's the sign of a relieved man with a safe job but orders from above to adapt and react.

Not being funny, but Spurs aside, where the line up and formation was dictated by the absence of Toure to a degree, where have you seen these attributes? We were a shambles against Villa, a shambles at the Swamp, outplayed in the Nou Camp, and outfought by both Palace and Burnley. Only two comfortable wins at home to West Brom and West Ham recently have bucked the trend, and one of those teams had a man sent off after 38 seconds.......
Tbh you've sort of got a point. The results haven't exactly gone stratospheric. At the same time I just feel like the atmosphere has changed, even in a shit performance against Villa we managed to get that third goal.

The rest of the season before that I feel like it would have ended 2-2.

The worry for me though is what if it's solely down to two absences - Yaya and Kompany.

I can't shake the feeling the team looks happier and less fractured without Vinnie. I know we're all hoping this season is a blip from him but what if it's not.

If we started next season with Pellegrini as manager and Mangala and Laporte our centre backs I wouldn't be shocked.

Interesting viewpoint. Tend to agree that we have appeared more focused recently

Which takes us back to the wonderful night in Rome.

Had Toure been fit, would he have played? I think the answer to that is a resounding yes.

And that decision changes the dynamics of the whole team.
Stoke away without Yaya was another brilliant performance... A trend seems to be appearing.

The trend which has been apparent all season is that out of the 4 or 5 centre midfielders we have, only one is capable of playing in a 442 with any consistency any more, and that is Fernandinho. Yet the manager persists with it because he likes sticking with the shape with which he won the Guatemalan title in the early 80s or whatever. It's his "philosophy" apparently.

It doesn't matter that Fernando and Milner aren't good enough on the ball, or that Yaya and Lampard don't have the legs anymore, his philosophy is far more important than those minor inconveniences. If we are going to stick with this manager next season, he's definitely going to stick to his philosophy, that is abundantly clear, so we're going to have to buy at least 3 new centre midfielders of huge energy, physicality, drive and quality.

Pogba and Koke will be a good start, and maybe the kid from Roma. Oh, and we're going to need a couple of wingers who can defend, have pace and a great final ball as well, so let's add Reus and Sterling. Those 5 should only set us back about £200m. Oh, and we could do with 2 new world centre halves who love playing on the half way line and flying in to challenges too, so let's call it a cool £260. With this squad, I'm sure Pellegrini's philosophy will flourish, we'll play like a "Big team" we won't have to worry about what other teams to, we can just go out and steam roll everyone, just like Barca do to Cordoba. As long as we "Have trust" and spend £260m on 7 of the best players in the world, the future looks very bright.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and point towards a hint of sarcasm......

Please try and keep this about Pellegrini.

Any other potential managers can go in the other thread

We were no better against Spurs than we were for the majority of this year.We were wide open in midfield with players flying through it,crap at defending set pieces and if Spurs would have had their heading and shooting boots on, we would have lost 5-1 and this thread and place would have been in meltdown!

We got away with it by Kolorov having his best game,Joe,Aguero and Silva having blinders, the team waking up and finding some bollocks at last and a HUGE slice of lady luck.

Tony Pullis could come in and do a better job than Pellegrini because he would tighten us up and our flair players would edge most games. If Pellegrini is still here next year it is because they are waiting for Pepe or nobody better is available to come in short term.

Even if we win the next three games it shouldn't paper over the cracks of what has been an appalling season by our recent standards and for the players we have at our disposal!

Really?? We have been poor most of the season and dire in the last half dozen games at least with no signs our tactics or organisation are improving.Villa and Spurs should have beaten us and the rags should have reversed that 6-1 scoreline we gave them at their place we were such a shambles.

Oh and if you don't happen to agree with a point of view it doesn't make it a crock of shite mate it is just different to one you hold!

So tell me where this manager has or is improving the team and tactics because i see little evidence.

Yes.....the Tony Pullis statement was given as a worse case scenario and a bit tongue in cheek as he is a lot of people's worst nightmare as a manager, but he would tighten up our defence more than Pellegrini.
