Discussion: Manuel Pellegrini 2014/15 (continued)

If and only if there is a lock to get Anceloti or Pep would I sack Pellegrini. There aren't many elite managers out there. Pellegrini seems to be on good terms with the players for the most part. So it isn't a matter of locker room conflicts like it was with Mancini. So the only reason to change right now is if there is a better manager not only available, but locked in.

Should be sacked on Monday if he plays a full team against Soton. Simple as that.

I'm not being funny, but for me he should be sacked on Monday regardless. The sudden change in tactics when we knew the title was gone just reeks of desperation and self-preservation.

I can't bear another dull season of shocking defending, shit set-pieces (both defending them and attacking ones), turgid post match interviews, boring press conferences, not giving youth a chance, not being tactically adept or malleable and hang-dog expression close-ups.

He needs to go!

Yep.

Too little, too late.

Bye Pellers.

Only a complete moron would use press conferences and facial expressions as a stick to beat our manager with.

Pellers used Pozo out of position and Emyr Huws for 10 minutes in a League Cup game when 4-0 up. That is his record for debuts. He also gave Lopes a start in a League Cup game where he got Man of the Match, played him the next game where he had a bad game and he has never played ever since then. That was in the game when Negredo hurt his shoulder.

Mourinho was supposed to be the guy we didn't appoint because he was bad for our Academy unlike the holistic Pellegrini.

He isn't a City manager, he should go and go on Monday

Mourinho didn't get the gig because he'd pissed us about previously which meant he was a no no with Mansour and Khaldoon.
Txiki said he was impressed by Mourinho when he interviewed him at Barcelona. He just thought Pep was a better fit.

Holistic is just a word. For all you know Txiki has advised Pellegrini that most of the youth players aren't ready yet.
Khaldoon has said our aim is to win all 4 competitions that we play in. To have a chance in all competitions we normally have
two top players for each position. Only if and when a youth player is deemed to be at that level will he get an extended run.
For that reason most of our better prospects are out on loan. Iheanacho is the exception to that rule. He might well be the
real deal.

Pellegrini should go on Monday if we can get an upgrade. Pep, Ancelotti and Klopp are upgrades. Rafa is probably at the
same level. If we can't get an upgrade (and I'm sure we can) then he should stay and be given a contract extension to end
all speculation. I'm not his biggest fan but to say he isn't a "City manager" is just being silly. He's not Frank Clark or Alan Ball.

Just give us a glimpse of the youngsters. Not asking for wholesale changes but for just once in your bloody time here take a chance and play someone under the age of 23.

Can't mate, Spurs might get upset. We should not blood youngsters because Spurs might get upset. that is a genuine post from these people.

I'd say that was a typo. What they really meant to say was, if playing a youngster will piss off that bunch of deluded fuckwits in north London, we should play 11 youngsters and follow it up by sending the cunts some elephant shit in the post.

We had a 14 game unbeaten run between november to january catching up chelsea at the same time im wondering if some on here slating Pellegrini now were then??

i certainly don't blame Pellegrini for me injuries/form/lack in quality strength in depth had a major impact for the rest of the season.

he deserves to see out the last year for me anyway.

We lost the title by miles because of Pellegrini's tactical choices. - some would say ineptness. That's 5 games lost or 15 points down the crapper.
City 0 Arsenal 2
Liverpool 2 City 1
Burnley 1 City 0
Palace 2 City 1
Man Utd 4 City 2
I'm not saying we should have won all of them but we should have got 9 or 10 points out of that lot.

Then there are the League Cup and FA Cup disasters
City 0 Newcastle 2
City 0 Middlesbrough 2

ANd worst of all the Champions League Debacle
CSKA 2 City 2
City 1 CSKA 2
City 1 Barca 2

The biggest problem with that is the is he staying / is he going sideshow could be a major distraction all next season.

Another problem (for Manuel) is that this Summer it is likely that there will be a number of top notch managers available.

There are mitigating circumstances but we have regressed this season. It's harsh but he should go this Summer.
The performance in the domestic cups, the CL and the poor run recently have all done for him in my view.

If he were to stay, we were to give him an extension and we spend well this Summer though it is quite possible
that we will regain the PL next season under him. He's certainly not a dummy. The days of employing dummies
are over but we can do better.

Obviously you have the inside information that I don't.

But either way "holistic" isn't just a word, it's a concept which Soriano, Begiristain and from his speaking elsewhere, Sheikh Mansour firmly believe in and how they run their businesses.

And the idea that a player will EVER come out of ANY Academy and be good enough to walk into our side is hilarious

Glad you agree with me that it's going to be a very, very rare occurrence, hence the fact we loan players out.

Never say never. Messi would have. Iheanacho may.

So when City spoke of a 50% Academy graduate squad by 2030, did you presume that these would all be world class £30m players?
