That end to the season has solidified his position, and I think he'll still be in charge next season. I can only assume we have a cast iron guarantee from Guardiola to take over in 2016, otherwise Begiristain is going to look stupid.

He's not a stupid man, and Guardiola isn't likely to fuck him over so I assume an agreement is in place, otherwise we'd be balls out for Klopp.

Still can't see Pellers hanging around for his last year. But we will know one way or the other pretty soon so no sense sweating it.

Can't see that being a problem. I think he signs up for three years and knows a review comes at the end of that. Chances of another year could depend on a thousand factors. I reckon the club want to work in 3 year cycles and Pelligrini was aware of that before he gave his autograph.

He is a top manager. Seeing out his contract and leaving with a trophy or two will certainly help his cause in finding another job.

In some ways losing the likes of Yaya, Milner, Kolarov, Dzeko and Nasri this summer (Mancini signings) could be of a real benefit to Pellegrini as it will give him the opportunity to really build his own team with his stamp on it.

He needs to adapt tactically though and needs to be brave enough next season to not feel the fear of having big name players on the bench, he has shown it in recent weeks by playing 4-5-1/4-2-3-1, but will he keep it up next season?

We can play 4-4-2/ 4-2-2-2 at home in certain games but not all the time, and also by keeping a consistent back 4 will do wonders for us defensively, Chelsea's title win has been pretty much cemented by them having a consistent back 4 and we should follow that trend too.

The biggest points for me going into next season are:

- The form of Vinny, can he come back?
- Replacing Yaya.
- Overall recruitment has to be of a world class standard.
- Adapt tactically.
- Consistency of the back 4

Maybe. All I see is problems but we all see it differently. We will know pretty soon anyway and whilst I think he is toast if he stays its not a big deal in the great scheme of things. Apart from, that is, the questions about Pep every 5 minutes and questioning his fitness to lead and motivate the team after every indifferent result and/or performance.

As I said no biggie :)

If he keeps with this 4123/4141 setup I'm fine with him staying.

I do worry tho that he will abandon it for 442 again after shelling out huge money on yet another striker.

His excuse all along has been 'look, we lost playing with only 1 striker' but switching to a 1 ST formation sporadically throughout the season like he has proved nothing. Teams, like players, need a run of games to settle. These last 5/6 games we have looked less exposed as the games have gone by and that's due to the formation, not, as some say, leaving Kompany out.
This is my fear too.

MP still seems determined to prove that his 442 'philosophy' will come good as the last few games have shown. Ok, Bony has played deeper than I would have expected, but we already have specialist No 10's in the squad who are continually played out of position & not where he's played Bony. Or is Bony our new No 10 and back up striker?

This summer, are we going to buy players to suit MP's obessesion with 442 or to suit our club's supposed 433 formation preference?

If we buy for 433, will MP again try to fit square pegs in his 442 round holes or will he be told to switch to 433 as we've bought players better suited to that formation?

If we buy players to suit MP's 442 what happens if & when Pep arrives next year? Do we ditch the players we've bought to suit 442 or tell Pep to play that formation because it suits the players we bought for MP's final year?

The whole situation has a ridiculous feel about it, but I suppose all will become clear soon enough.

I'll be delighted if Pellegrini is in charge next year and I believe he will be, if we challenge domestically and progress in the Champions League next year I see no reason why he shouldn't be here the year after as well.
Are you saying that Pelle should remain in charge after the next season if he do a very good job in PL and Champions? If this happens it gonna be a very wise decision.

The same back four and a five man midfield......what the majority have been calling for........equals some of the best football of our season and six wins on the bounce.

So why, when it was so obviously the best strategy for our team.......was such an approach not adopted throughout the season?

The end to this campaign has papered the cracks somewhat but square pegs in round holes and rotation for the hell of it have cost us dearly this season.............subsequently,12 more months of a manager who cant see what's best for his team concerns me.

Well, looks like he's staying so we'll have to get used to the idea. Txiki must back him in the transfer market and the fans must back him on match days.

Still a little concerned that he stumbled upon our best formation through necessity when players were injured. Similarly, the only time we've had a settled defence has been when players have been injured again.

Let's hope he's learned a few things this season.
