But it's true so why 'yawn'?
I yawned because we get the occassional posters who say they know this and they know that but never say actually anything. If I was to replay with "well I know a fella (cannot name him though) whose wife shops with Pellers wife and he tells me that he is definitely staying, but I cannot say why -do you get my point

I Iike Pellegrini, he's a decent man & a good manager, but this is a huge mistake by City. A manager who everyone knows is leaving after this next season Has no chance of motivating the players, players will get away with what they can , even the best ones. A manager in his last year has more chance of plating blancmange than getting the best out the players.
We don't know yet if his contract is being extended, and if he goes into the final year of his contract, that suggests we're hopeful on Guardiola, but that maybe wishful thinking. Continuing the Bayern connection there is Guardiola's predecessor Heynckes who had a great final season.

'Final year' should be avoided where possible, but can be positive, particularly if it leads to someone like Pep.

Yup, and particularly when they've got a grand total of 9 posts to their credit

I hope he sticks with his one striker policy that served us well next year, play Yaya where Lampard is now, add a couple of fresh faces and I think we'll be raring to go next season.
I hope we find a way of playing Bony and Aguero, but that will probably need a solution to the Yaya conundrum. Lampard played irregularly. Whatever the midfield make-up it didn't seem to work well enough.

But I think Marvin, at home against weaker sides we could play a 442, but against better teams we need a more solid look, if you played Yaya in the number ten, Silva left, and added a worker right, coupled with Fernandinho and a controlling CM, we'd have a far more balanced side.

Silva is best in the no. 10 role. I think Toure is better playing deeper where he can find space on the ball and mount those occasional runs forward. He is potentially such an asset that I get trying to maximise his strengths and cover up his weaknesses but I am not sure you can do that. Hopefully the break refreshes him and he comes back just that little bit fitter. The ideal situation for me is that we sign Pogba, and Yaya realises the only way he's playing is by getting back to where he was in 2013/14

Thanks for the knowledgeable info, that was my thinking on it too. But Sampaoli is actually doing great at the moment, right? And he is Bielsa's successor and follower in terms of playing style (both even met at Newell's as youngsters!), so he fits in well at the moment. Pellegrini differs a bit from them I think, although he seems at times at least as romantic as Bielsa. :D
Yeah, but Sampaoli was again such a bet. Because he was really almost unknown, before he joined our club, and he had also null experience as a national coach anywhere.

We were lucky with his sign, yes, but it happens, IMO only one time in a million, that a young coach get such a success. He was also a cheap alternative to some others. You know, buy cheap and unknow, and lets bet if we hit the next time the big lottery pot. :-(

What baffles me is if against the stronger teams we're a better outfit playing with just one striker, surely we should be even stronger with one striker against weaker opposition?

I just don't get why we have to accommodate MP's obsession with 442 any longer as its been proved twice this season already we're better without it. He's had enough time pleasuring himself this season with 442 which has probably cost us competing for the title, so surely its time for us to play our best formation, put square pegs in square holes and allow the players to become comfortable with the formation that suits us best.
