I reckon next Season will be one of the most competitive for the Title. Arsenal are really going to push on, Chelsea are still strong ,the rags have built as well.
There will be no room for sloppy results and points chucked away if any Manager fails to motivate or select the best team. We still have the same Manager with all his flaws-has he corrected our woeful inability to deliver a corner? ,has he corrected our dismal lack of defending balls into our box?.
On the positive side we have one quality signing which should correct our slow ,slow build up.
Not enough at this point to change last season though....If he is keeping the seat warm for someone else I wouldn't expect some of our 'lazy' players to bust a gut to impress.

Totally agree with you mate. His game management must be the worst of any Champions League level club. We've only got to put up with him for one more season maximum, so I'm looking on the bright side.

Fingers crossed we get KDB and Pogba over the line, then we'll have clearly the best squad in the league again, so even he couldn't fail to be successful.

You're not fooling anybody. We all know what you are.

We all know what you are, but we've all got a different word for it.

Viva Pep!

Shall I bite? I'd never deny Pep's record but his football isn't the most entertaining to watch. Pellegrini's City battering teams was an absolute joy to behold. I think we evaluate at the end of the season where hopefully there'll be silverware and plenty of talking points.

I'd actually look at Klopp or Ancelotti if there's a need to replace the manager. Instinct says he'll go at the end of his contract.

Not even kicked a ball in anger and some are at it already.

Who needs enemies with friends like these eh?

Everyone's got different views on what is entertaining football I guess mate, and of course I respect your view.

I think this idea that the only way football can be entertaining is if it's all out attack is not true for everyone. Personally I don't enjoy the kamikaze style of football, with absolutely no interest in defending or being solid. It's naive and against the top sides you get found out, and Pellegrini's record against the top sides in the games that matter at City is a good example of that.

The best side I have ever seen in the flesh was Pep's Bayern in the first game at the Etihad. To me the way they dominated and tore us apart was unbelievable, and although I obviously didn't enjoy it as a City fan, I admired it.

The best team I've ever seen on TV was Pep's Barca that beat Mourinho's Madrid 6-0. Some people find dominating possession boring, I find it mesmerising.

Each to their own, but my personal view is we'll become a much better, and therefore entertaining team when Pep replaces Pellikeegan.

Arsenal and United will be better and Chelsea will still be the team to beat. Pellegrini has a hell of a lot to improve on if we are win the title.

Adapting small aspects of our game to counter the best aspects of other team's play was a huge area of weakness for us last season. Even bottom of the league sides have certain dangerous elements within their ranks that will beat even the very best and to completely ignore them is just naïve.

Having some way not allowing teams to get to the edge of or box too easily is a weakness that needs addressing from last season too. As are our set pieces and the defending of opposition set pieces.

Also the mentality of 2-0 being a decent enough lead that we can simply drop our intensity and sail through the rest of the game with one eye on the next game upcoming. We lost a 2-0 lead against Hull Moscow Sunderland Burnley Villa and Swansea last season (that's what I can remember, there may be another). The players need to know that a match can turn around on anything and at any point.

Quicker build up play should be a bit easier with Sterling, but we need to up our tempo so much sometimes it was painful to watch last season and very easy to defend against.

Let's hope things will be different this season. I hope he has a good final season with us and that he can sandwich one disappointing season with two really good ones so that he'll be remembered as being a City legend rather than someone who must have played on the relief and crest of a wave of fresh belief and optimism with some of our players after the confrontationism of Mancini and the slapped arsed attitude of some of our players had disappeared, and then flopped for the two years after that.

Starting a thread like this was always bound to be controversial. He got lucky end of season with fixtures and injuries picking the team for him at times. Let's see who we get in in the window and judge how much he learnt last year when we face Chelsea at home. Can't condemn him without a competitive ball being kicked but I wouldn't have been disappointed to see him gone. Hopefully he has learned from last years tactical disasters and will have players he wants/needs to play his system.

Good post mate, fair and balanced. There's so many black and white posters on bluemoon, love / hate Mancini and love / hate Pellegrini, with no middle ground.

We improved no end when we played one up front last season. It was so glaringly obvious to everyone, seemingly except for the manager or his fan club. He kept it for the last 6 games, whether that was by design or necessity, there was still an improvement.

If he can learn from his mistakes, erradicates the naivitey, we can definitely go on to have a great season. We're going to have the players needed to be successful, it's just down to the manager to make sure they're used in the right way.
