My theory is that Pellegrini already has been told Pep was coming a long time ago, yet that he got the full trust of the board to continue his work at City. They gave him a contractextension as to say that whenever the Pep-deal does somehow collapses, you are the one as things stand right now. I even like to think Pellegrini even has been offered another function within the CFG, and that the club won't stand in his way whatever other decision Pellegrini might make when the moment has arrived that Pep takes over.
If you read Pellegrini comments on questions about Pep coming in, you can sence he knows and you can also sense it has been delt with by the club in a very decent way. And it's no more the man deserves. Now it's up to the players to show their graditute to Pellegrini by giving their all and make sure Pellegrini leaves with any kind of silverware. The best obviously the way Heynkes left Bayern Munich.

Pellegrini is a dignified man with a lot of class. His comments again yesterday were that of a man who knows he'll be replaced, yet he's maintained his dignity superbly and deserves so much respect.

He's going to leave the club in the summer after winning two Premier League titles in three years, and we as fans should give him the huge send off he deserves.

That makes sense. I think that Pellers was offered a contract extension because City wanted to protect themselves against the likelihood of Pep going elsewhere, rather than as some have said, to deflect speculation or avoid unrest (because it hasn't). So if Pep goes to the rags, Arse or the Chavs, then we have an out ie we already have a manager under contract. Off course in the fickle world of football, results can impact the best of plans but nevertheless.

As I said on the Pep thread, I don't believe this is as cut and dried as some might think.

Exactly how I see it, mate. His comments, particularly yesterday's, leave me in no doubt whatsoever that he's bang in the loop as to what is going on.

I am delighted that we have a club which does things properly, decently and with honour. What comes around goes around. And of course as a City fan I want him to go out in a blaze of glory this season. The opportunity is there and he knows it. He can seal his legacy this season. That must be a major motivator for him. And I have no doubts that the players are more than motivated to deliver the goods this season after an extremely patchy 12 months. None of them are getting any younger and they have their own epitaphs to write.

I still think retirement or semi-retirement is extremely likely. He's a decent, intelligent man and if he's got any sense he'll spend his time with them before it's too late. He will, of course, be very wealthy too but that's no good if all you do is work.

I tend to agree too, I was always of the opinion that the extension was a golden handshake.

I sincerely hope that Pellegrini says as much when he moves on, if for nothing else than to stick two fingers up at the British press.

It must be hard for manuel to read and here everyday that Pep is taking over. It's up to the players to get results and play well. It's not like he says "hey boys, I fancy a 1-2 loss today"
