If we had taken Yaya out of that team yesterday and played KDB in the No.10, and had Sterling and Navas out wide, we would have been no worse off.

He is our Rooney, shoehorned in by reputation alone. Can't play in No.10. Can't play in midfield two.

And it was clear as he left the field that he felt offended by the notion he should be subbed.

I think, once the January transfer window closes and, with it the opportunities for mischief making by his agent, Yaya will be phased out. That is, of course, injuries permitting.

He still comes up with the goods though and I have a feeling he wouldn't take being dropped on a regular basis very well, it's a big problem for pellegrini.

Most would have Sergio, kdb, silva and sterling in their team, I would have navas over sterling but regardless that leaves toure in a midfield 2, unless we play 3 at the back which won't be done it's a problem, it is not helpful to dinho either

Does he come up with the goods, though, really?

It's been a while IMO.

And surely if we are worried about how he would react to be a regular on the bench, then we don't need players here anymore who feel like they are doing us a favour.

Does he? He hasnt scored since the opening day of the season. The only meaningful thing that springs to mind he has done this season was against Sevilla. Now That may be a little harsh but as a fan of Toure and how fantastic he's been for the club (bar the Summer Saga's), and as many others have said, he is almost getting in the squad based on the performances he used to put in.

I dont think it is a stretch too far to say the same about Zabaletta too. The difference being Pellegrini has taken note of Sagna's performance level and made the call needed. I think the same needs to be done for Yaya's position.

If pep does come here next summer then yaya will be the first out of the door

I think there's a wider issue with Toure. And that is that in the system we play his passing from deep is crucial to our attacking play. One of the reasons we created little yesterday for me was because Nando and Dinho with the best will in the world aren't really deep lying playmakers in the way Yaya is. Only once did Toure make a pass like you'd expect if was playing from deep, and it led to our best chance of the first half. He kept the ball on the left, rode through a couple of challenges and saw the pass to De Bruyne which opened up the space on the right. His finish was piss weak though when KDB fed the ball back to him (what's happened to our finishing this season?).

Short term I think he'll continue to play in a two against 90% of the teams we face. Long term we need to stop thinking about replacing him with a like for like player because that's frankly never going to happen. We need to focus on finding a player with his passing range who's natural position is in centre mid. All the added bonuses that Toure brings we can do without if we have someone with his passing range.

It was crying out for that but with what yaya has achieved at city and the respect yaya has from everyone at the club manager seem scared to leave him out when fit

Many people will laugh but away from home and in Europe...all day - so much energy and much underrated forward passing and box-to-box from Fernandinho and Delph. We have to forget about price tags, reps etc. As Pellegrini initially stated, we need the right instruments in the orchestra.

..............Delph.......Fernado.............
...................Fernandinho.............

Only leaves 2 places for silva, kdb, sterling, navas and shunting silva wide isn't the best
