Fucking hell, are people seriously questioning his ability after this result? We just beat Sevilla away, we're top of the league, we're the first English club to qualify for the group stages of the CL, and we're still in the Carling/Milk/League Cup. Oh, and even our harshest critics say we play some of the best, if not the best, football in the league.

We've suddenly got some entitled fuckers following us.

This. Added to the fact we did a lot of it without our two best players who are returning imminently. Life is good.

The narrative is set and has been since July.

If we win the league, it's "despite the manager"

I honestly think some clowns come on here saying shite like that because they believe it makes them look nuanced, deep-thinking,erudite,and contemplatitive.

Personally I think it makes them look like clowns.

I thought it with the Mancini outers, and I think it with the Pellers outers.

Clowns.

I love Pellergrini and he has my full support.

We play great attacking football and had plenty of chances to win today. I've never had it so good as a City fan and his mentalities are spot on.

Has anyone had a look at the current score between Sevilla and Real Madrid? I'll spoil it for you Sevilla are winning 3-1. Only 4 days ago we beat Sevilla by the same scoreline. Perhaps Pellegrini isn't quite as tactically poor as some believe.

Thought his ineptitude cost us today. Really fucking frustrating to watch.

Made no sense to bring Navas on for an injured Bony early in the game, just meant that the midfield was more congested and we had to play one of our most creative attacking threats in an unfamiliar position up top. Kelechi was the obvious stand in and Pellegrini showed no faith in him.

We had no focal point up front from that point on, and by the second half he tried Sterling up top instead of De Bruyne. He moved one of our biggest threats from the wide areas and stuck him up top, even though he's arguably our worst finisher after Navas.

And all the while Kelechi's on the bench.

It was just utter madness.

To me it just showed his reticence, yet again, to trust a young player ahead of a senior player - particularly one with a bit of an ego like Yaya.

Yaya was plodding around in a free role doing jack shit throughout the game, Pellegrini was effectively accommodating him by playing the other lads out of position up top.

Kelechi for Yaya then became the obvious change. And then to give that free role behind the front man to Sterling or De Bruyne.

But it never came.

And then we Manuel did decide to bring Yaya off with about 15 minutes to spare he brought on fucking Delph in his place?

Christ. So frustrating.

And that was a change that would clearly only lift the crowd which was dead at the time.

Really don't get I personally, so frustrating to watch that all unfold. We still created a few great chances as well, but we had no recognised striker up top, and our finishing was poor.

Kelechi didn't get a look in until the dying moments and even then he stretched Villa well and almost picked out a match winning assist in injury time.

I just don't understand the caution at putting him in there early in the game, and then leaving it so late. Just doesn't make sense.

I think it cost us all three points today.

Hypothetical question - if every single result from Pellegrini's time in charge had remained the same, except that in 2014 Liverpool had scraped a 1-1 draw with Chelsea and then held on to beat Palace 3-2, would you still think the same about him?

You can cast our season in one of two lights though. You can lay it out like you have and point to us being top of both the league with a fair amount of tough games out of the way, and our CL group despite being in the supposed group of death. And you can point to us still being in the Carling Cup and that all sounds grand.

Or you can view it more cynically. Our Champions League group is made up of teams who have all been in and around the bottom half of their respective leagues for most of the season. On top of that we've actually only really performed in one of the games. We were awful in Germany and bang average in both home games.

In the league we've averaged around 2 points per game which isn't normally title winning form. We have been poor for large periods - our form nor performance after the first 5 games of the season hasn't been great. We have shone in patches of games but have also been woeful. Newcastle should have been 2 up. Bournemouth should have been a goal up and a man up. We got hammered by Spurs and we weren't at the races today.

I think there is such a mixed reaction because some of us get frustrated because we seem to be our own worse enemy. It often feels like we lose to ourseleves and not to the opposition. There is also a sense of missed opportunities given Chelsea's awful start, United's uninspiring style and Arsenal's obvious flakiness.

On the flip side you have people who are genuinely grateful to just be where we are, given what we have come from - and that's fair enough. And then I can't help thinking we have a section of supporters who are self conscious of what other fans might think of us if we slag off our team (given we are top), so instead, go all out to shout down anyone who shows frustration towards certain players or the manager.

I'm pretty sure it's the same at every top European club. There will be some Bayern fans who can't wait to be rid of Pep and there will be Atletico fans who will be questioning whether Simeone is the right man to win La Liga again. It's just the way it is.
