Or just happens to think out of all the available managers out there, he'd be the perfect replacement.
Not the only one of course - that would be silly. Certainly the best option for us though.
Telling people that they're "lost in the cult of personality" for having those thoughts is just you not being to help yourself being a dick.
If I was really into the "cult of personality" I wouldn't be happy with Pellegrini - which I am.
I think you're a bit of a dick too. Overly defensive too. Glad you've clarified what you meant by "anyone but Pep".
This sort of thing is so enervating, we'd all be very happy to see Guardiola take over next year I'm sure.

I'm sure we would George. If and when Pellegrini goes then Pep is ideal. But if he goes somewhere else or stays at Bayern nothing is lost. Despite those who think Pep's the magic pill to take them to footballing nirvana.

If he was to stay at Bayern I'd agree with you. I've said it before though, him coming to manage in England and it not being us would be concerning.
He's no magic pill, you don't have to exaggerate to get your point across. He's just (for me) the best possible replacement for Pellegrini.

Looking forward to part two of Citywatch podcast for a few possible clues!

If he doesn't come here I could care less where he goes. That kind of makes my point about magic pills and the cult of personality. Guardiola has had the best squad in his league by miles at both Bayern and Barca. If he goes to Arsenal or anywhere other than us he won't even have the best squad in the league. So I'm good.

You know it's possible to have a big personality and be a successful manager at the same time don't you? It's not one or the other.
of course you're good - if you were made of chocolate you'd fucking eat yourself. Haha!
Anyway, it seems it's just a small disagreement so not worth dwelling on this fine Friday morning.

Cool. We got there eventually. :)

Real Madrid are ahead as well - they've scored lots in the last couple of years. 118 in the league alone last season.

It doesn't alter the fact that his underlying "big picture" numbers are superb. As examples:

i) Goal Difference in the league in his 2 and a bit seasons is now up to 127. That is a huge 72 goal difference higher than the Rags and 49 higher than Chelsea over the same period.

ii) Goals scored in the league in his 88 league games is vastly superior to the "rivals":

City 211
Liverpool 166
Arsenal 161
Chelsea 160
United 143

iii) Defensively in the league we are only 2nd behind Chelsea in terms of goals conceded over the 2 and a bit seasons - 84 compared to 82

iv) An interesting shift is in the number of "goal attempts" conceded per game. In the title win season 13/14 we had the fewest attempts against us @ 9.4 per game. Last year we were third best @ 10.2 per game which is still very good (Mancini was 10.4 in 11/12).

This year we are running @ 7.2 per game which is so low it is as sensational in my eyes as the goals scored figures you highlighted and as far as I can see is pretty much unprecendented in the Premier League and is obviously the lowest of any team in the league this season and the 4th lowest in Europe.

v) You mention Champions League away record. His all-time record in group games away from home might be the best of all managers (I'll check this out at some point). Simply, with the 4 clubs he has managed in the CL he is losing only once every 10 games.Home form could do with improvement :)

Keep up the good work Manuel.

Interesting numbers.

It's well known in some parts that I am a big fan of the shots against performance indicator and and where is stands is particularly low. It makes me chuckle.
