When you manage a big club every season is a big season and an important season. Doesn't dimish your previous achievements.
I think when the previous season was such a poor one it makes the current season huge. As you say though previous achievements should never be forgotton and I for one won't.

Yeah I'm sure if he was Pellegrini's age and as awkward with the press he'd still be seen as the messiah.
But he isn't Pellegrinis age or awkward with the press so your point is, well pointless.
He is in fact the most successful manager on the planet over the last decade, has managed some of the best players on the planet and would be the perfect replacement if and when Pellegrini moves on.
All's I care about is what's best for the club moving forward and for me, anybody but Pep coming in would be a lost opportunity.

As a supporter you should t have the same requirements as the owners. It's their money and they have to look after the bigger picture. Last season was fine for us as supporters. At least for normal supporters. Some seasons you'll win loads some seasons you'll win nowt.

Also worth noting that although the season wasn't good enough for the owners the manager didn't pay with his job. Very telling.

Not sure abt that tbh, I guess maybe some fans were happy and some wern't, I was in the latter. I'm convinced we will put that right this season and ive seen nothing to suggest otherwise.

I don't think anyone would dispute Peps credentials as a manager, but that doesn't mean he would be equally as successful here. We currently have a very good manager and who is being successful. Why throw the baby out of the bathwater?

So unless we win a trophy every season you're not happy. That must make watching City very difficult.
Not really, my take on last season was it just seemed to pass us by. I think with Chelsea wrapping the league up early and us not really performing in the cup comps, didn't help
That's why ive said this season is hugely important for us, its paramount we achieve some silverware.

Anyone who thinks "anyone but Pep" would be a lost opportunity is lost in the cult of personality.

Every season is hugely important. I take your point about last season. It was disappointing for me too but it wasn't a big deal and it doesn't make this one anymore important.

I always get the impression when I read things like that that there's an inherent fear we're suddenly going to become shit again and need to pile up the trophies yesterday. Which obviously isn't the case. We are here to stay. So even if this season we finish 3rd and win nothing. Nothing will change about how we approach next season or how important next season is.

Or just happens to think out of all the available managers out there, he'd be the perfect replacement.
Not the only one of course - that would be silly. Certainly the best option for us though.
Telling people that they're "lost in the cult of personality" for having those thoughts is just you not being to help yourself being a dick.

If I was really into the "cult of personality" I wouldn't be happy with Pellegrini - which I am.

I think you're a bit of a dick too. Overly defensive too. Glad you've clarified what you meant by "anyone but Pep".
