Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini: "Today we did it all wrong - the performance, the way we defended, the way we went forward. It was a fake night, a fake game. It is difficult to understand.

Fake manager!

Might be the first undertaker to get on the dance floor and shake it to 'Monster Mash' at the annual Christmas party, but an inspiration he aint. Shocking effort today, never gave us a chance.

He fucked up today and will know it himself, the players had an off day too. Credit where it's due though Klopp had them fired up, they pressed as a team all over the pitch not as individuals and cut us open plenty of times. Really lucky we kept it at 1-4 Tbf.

The game was over before he made any changes.

I'm actually serious in saying a fair few either side of me were convinced it was over as the city line up was getting read out, something like that today is undefendable, there can't of been many city fans at the ground today who wernt shaking their heads at that line up.

Does anyone know where the good Sheikh parks his Lamborghini? I'm going to steal it and drive this clown back to Spain.

I like the guy on a personal level, and I've enjoyed the football we've played under him. He is though horribly stubborn, and the number of times he has picked teams with no heed as to how the opposition plays has now reached critical mass. When the team sheets were read out today, there were Blues all around me shaking their heads in disbelief at the prospect of what we all knew was to come. A 6 man midfield swarm (standard Klippety fare) up against Ya Ya in a central midfield two. I called 3-0 to the dippers before we kicked off, the bloke next to me called 4. The decision to 'rest' our best defender in favour of a 36 year old, when a team full of relentless harriers were in town, was merely crass. The decision to omit Fernandinho bordered on actual sabotage. We improved after the requisite changes were made at half time, but in all honesty Liverpool could still have scored 7 or 8. Liverpool away last season, United away, Barca at home, Spurs away, Liverpool at home this season, our record in the big games under Pellegrini is at best poor, and that's becoming the most telling aspect of his tenure. He's good, but he's fatally flawed, condemned to make the same basic mistakes again and again, and for that reason we need to dispense with his services as soon as Pep or Ancelotti shows an interest. He was schooled today in embarrassing fashion. His team, his tactics, his responsibility.
Top post mate, as always. Guts me though that we missed out on Klopp....

If you read my posts you'll realise I'm not a pellers hater and have stuck up for him ever since he took charge. But today has finally turned the screw for me. For him to say it was not the team he picked fault was unacceptable. Who is he kidding. Not picking Fernandinho or Otamendi coz they had travelled? Ffs. Coutiniho and ferminho looked fine!!!! He's picked demi in 2 games in the league v spurs and today. Says it all. All the sack merchants can forget it coz he ain't going anywhere this season. We've missed out on klopp and must now wait for pep. Still think we could win the league by default, but pellers has seriously gone down in my estimations today. Everyone in the ground new Wat was going to happen today the second the teams were announced.

Good post. However, if Pep isn't coming as KazzyDeyna says maybe we should go for Ancelotti now before he gets snapped up. Missing out on Klopp was a big mistake as others said at the time.
