Is it possible that the weakened team was because he may have not realised we'd already qualified for the CL last 16? He has form for getting his maths wrong.
I like the guy on a personal level, and I've enjoyed the football we've played under him. He is though horribly stubborn, and the number of times he has picked teams with no heed as to how the opposition plays has now reached critical mass. When the team sheets were read out today, there were Blues all around me shaking their heads in disbelief at the prospect of what we all knew was to come. A 6 man midfield swarm (standard Klippety fare) up against Ya Ya in a central midfield two. I called 3-0 to the dippers before we kicked off, the bloke next to me called 4. The decision to 'rest' our best defender in favour of a 36 year old, when a team full of relentless harriers were in town, was merely crass. The decision to omit Fernandinho bordered on actual sabotage. We improved after the requisite changes were made at half time, but in all honesty Liverpool could still have scored 7 or 8. Liverpool away last season, United away, Barca at home, Spurs away, Liverpool at home this season, our record in the big games under Pellegrini is at best poor, and that's becoming the most telling aspect of his tenure. He's good, but he's fatally flawed, condemned to make the same basic mistakes again and again, and for that reason we need to dispense with his services as soon as Pep or Ancelotti shows an interest. He was schooled today in embarrassing fashion. His team, his tactics, his responsibility.

I still don't agree with you, not the fact that he loves his country, that much is obvious, but that he doesn't give us his best. The fact that you're talking about Kompany to begin with tells me you think he played his part in the defensive shambles we saw today, albeit indirectly. thats how I read it anyway.Well drop it then mate. Kompany has previous for putting glory with Belgium before being fit for City who pay his considerable wages.
I wouldn't mind if some of these matches were crucial, 2 of them were friendlies and the other was a meaningless dead rubber match after Belgium had already qualified for the Euro's, but yet he's had it with TWO managers over the same thing. It's just plain egotistical arrogance on his behalf.
Also I made an edit to my original response after you'd started you reply, where did I blame today's defeat on Kompany? I've been pissed off with his attitude toward us in respect to Belgium for the last 3 1/2 years!
Mate, you keep reading what I've written and keep interpreting into something to suit what you want me to say. Let me make it clear for you. Kompany gives City his all on and off the pitch, aside from where it comes to Belgium. Many times when he should have taken the sensible decision to sit out meaningless Internationals and concentrate on his fitness, he's gone against our manager's decision and played for Belgium putting his recovery at risk.I still don't agree with you, not the fact that he loves his country, that much is obvious, but that he doesn't give us his best. Before the match, everyone posted their preferred team selections on here and on Twitter as usual. 9 of 11 of the team picked was the same as what most fans were asking for. The 2 changes were Demichelis and Fernando instead of Otamendi and Fernandinho - both flew back from internationals late. Bad day at the office and I'm looking forward to Manuel becoming the first City manager to win 2 league championships.
