I just don't get why we've reverted to 4-2-2-2 when 4-3-2-1 has worked so effectively against differing levels of opposition. WHY? I'm flummoxed, and more than a little bit angry.

(Answers on a postcard to the usual address please)

Why are people using this "we're in the qf of the League Cup, in the next phase of the Champions League & may well win the Premier League" as an argument to excuse that fucking disgusting shambolic piece of shit management we saw on Saturday ? Or some of his other fuckups ?

Are people really suggesting that we would be struggling with this squad, if it wasn't for Pellegrini ? That it's only his brilliance which rescued our clueless players v Seville & Borussia, when we were playing like shite & getting turned over ? Or it was his brilliance which rescued us v Newcastle when we were bing ripped apart at the back ?

Really ? If we had Van Ghunt as manager, we would be mid table & struggling to qualify ? Or Koemann wouldn't be able to compete for anything with this squad ? Or Pinocchio or even fucking Martinez ? We'd be happy if Martinez took over & set us up like that v Liverpool, because he's managed to drag us up to 3rd in the league ?

If Kevin Keegan took over this fucking squad tomorrow, we would compete for all the domestic trophies & do a similar topsy turvy job. Mancini would do this or better. So would Benitez or any **** with any half decent managerial ability.

Pellegrini has showed us once this season, what he can do with tactics & nous, away at Seville. That was management, top class, management. The rest of the time, thiis season Harry fucking Redknapp could have done exactly the same job, & we wouldn't be any worse off, at all.

He has at his disposal, some of the best players ever to play in this country. We SHOULD be competing for every trophy, under any manager who comes here. The great manager, should now have us running clear at te top of the league, based on the fixtures we have played. Our loss at Spurs was a fucking disgrace as was the stupidity of allowing a Juve team who came for a draw, score 2 goals without even having to take a risk, to do it.

Any **** could have City where they are now. What he should be doing, is pulling unexpected results out of the bag, not getting fucking hammered unexpectedly.
100 % correct,

Maybe some do want him to fail just as some wanted Mancini to fail, but like the majority I'm a fan of the club not of any manager in particular and I just want the best for my team.

It is what it is though, so here's hoping that an old dog can learn new tricks! :-)

I'll openingly admit at 3-0 down on Saturday I was hoping this was the breaking point. There's nothing worse than thinking before a match the tactic's are wrong AGAIN and then watching the car crash fulfilled before your eyes.

First time people around me have booed at the end.

He's here until the end of the season unless our Champions League place is under threat, so we should just get on with supporting the team.

One of the things that did for Mancini, in my view, was that he kept getting done over in the same situations and never found a solution. Manuel has shown to some degree that he has the solution but he keeps failing to use it. He has to change things now and he can, if he chooses to. Time to stop playing the percentages in the way he is doing. I actually think it is time for Txiki, Ferran and / or KAM to have a word with him.

Manuel should have the solution given the quality and range of the squad is far superior allowing him to utilise different tools for different problems. That said I don't recall us getting dicked by 4 goals that many times under Mancini (if like ever). Perhaps the solution is to not allow the problem to manifest itself in the first place i.e turning 'Fortress Etihad' into a rather accomodating B&B where guests put their feet on the furniture with impunity.

The anger is strong in this one and I like it!

I would only disagree on one point, Seville away. The only reason we all think it was a master class is down to expetations. We've been so shit in Europe for years, any away win is over exaggerated.

I don't want him to fail I want him to learn and understand from his errors and understand that 4-4-2 or should we say 4-2-4 which it was on Saturday is not possible or workable to fit all of our players in. Play 4-3-3, 4-1-2-3 or 4-5-1 anything but fucking 4-4-2 and we could and should batter teams.

Not many teams get it easy at the Etihad but Manuel's approach is more high risk than Bobby's wise. However, I am not interested in comparing and contrasting the two beyond the point I was making that Manuel is in danger of going the same way...

3 in midfield works, 2 dedicated to pressing and breaking up play with the 3rd having the handbrake off a little more, Sterling & Navas pressed brilliantly v Sevilla as part of a front six, so they do have it in there locker.

Trouble is when you have 2 in midfield you are then relying on a wide player more or less drifting into the middle leaving acres of space in front of either fullback, my fucking mother would fancy her chances in getting past Kolorov so i will cut Sagna some slack as he has been excellent so far this season.

I think its less about 2v3 in midfield, more about being flexible about how the players change positions during the course of the game.

The current Liverpool team aren't capable of maintaining their pressing game for more than 10-15 min spells (perhaps longer if they get the adrenaline rush of early goals). They haven't had Dortmund's intensive pre season. If the players had been instructed to switch to a more solid formation (De Bruyne drops deeper in the middle , Sterling & Navas play a tad more defensively, a sort of 4-5-1) just for those 15 min spells we could have matched Liverpool and then played our own game when they tired.
