Hart stopped that being embarrassing as he did at weekend. Defensively we are shite. the guy is shite. But for Gerrard slipping he'd have won the carling cup.

He's finished, we're going backwards at an alarming rate, defensive shambles & easy to beat this City team

Does anybody know who decided to go into the season with only two strikers and a seventeen year old ? Who signed Bony ? Who has spent silly money on two average centre halves ? Why demechellis is still at the club ( he was a fantastic stop gap for a couple of seasons ) Why we have never signed a top quality left back ? Why we wasted money on a poor reserve keeper ? I just don't think it's the managers fault , maybe Tixi needs to be questioned .

All completely valid questions, I think. With the striker issue, I'm not sure there is necessarily a scouting/recruitment/squad management problem - I suspect the thinking was that we had one of the world's best strikers, who is usually available for 60-70% of games, and we'll sign Bony, who has barely had an injury for Swanseain two years, as backup. That he has been injured here so often raises questions about our training methods/medical staff, perhaps. But I can understand why it was thought that Aguero, Bony, Sterling and Kelechi would be enough.

Wth the centre halves, I don't think either Otamendi or Mangala are average. Mangala was instrumental in us keeping five clean sheets in a row at the start of the season; only a couple of weeks ago, everyone was raving about Otamendi - and rightly so, given a couple of his performances. We're just missing Kompany as a real leader at the back.

Demichelis is, regrettably, finished and has been for the best part of 12 months. But he's obviously a favourite of Pellegrini and someone he trusts, rightly or (probably) wrongly. Left back - I'd put down as one of those that it would be nice to trade up ( I was impressed by Sandro tonight, for example), but I also think that Clichy, with Kolarov as back up,isn't a bad option - Clichy was, I thought, one of our best players this evening, despite it being his first game back.

Caballero - not a fan, I must say. Here's praying that Hart's injury isn't too bad.

Not sure what Pellegrini did wrong tonight. Perhaps starting DecBruyne over Sterling. Based solely on pace.

De Bruyne needs to play Central.
Pellegrini would have been slaughtered if he'd have gone with a two centrally.

We are simply not clinical enough. Fernandinho scores a very easy chance, Juve can't sit on the edge of their own box. Our system would have got the needed draw.

Aguero should have been withdrawn, I probably wouldn't have started him. He really does need to be protected.

We can blame managers all we like, but our players are the ones making incredibly basic mistakes.

Before screaming and shouting for Pellegrini's head, look at Juve's team and bench tonight, then ours.

IMHO bottom line is that we have match winning players out injured , Yaya fading as he is coming to the end of his career ,Kompany injury prone and sadly looking more and more like a liability, Nasri finished and an unbalanced squad that just isn't good enough at this moment in time to compete with the most experienced European teams despite all the money we have thrown at the problem. Even if we finished top of the group I'm not convinced we could progress past the next round whoever we meet. Injuries are going to cost us dear this year and at the moment the League Cup looks our best hope for a trophy. Another season of opportunity wasted sadly but Pellegrini won't be here next year. The big question is who will be available to help us make that step up and after another season of relative failure who would want to take on the responsibility. It was brilliant while it lasted.

Accepting your analysis then Allegri did pretty well to get them to the final last year.

I think it's universally thought that Allegri is doing a good job. I wouldn't mind him here to be honest though can't imagine our owner would agree

Why not? I have to say I wouldn't mind watching City knowing that the defence was rock solid.

Unfortunately you've been caught in that trap whereby you've seen a big name and presumed they're big players for Juve. Pirlo was entirely average and most Juve fans were glad of him leaving. Tevez was not needed because of the Dybala signing along with Morata and Mandzukic. Vidal was an offer they didn't really want to turn down and had a decent replacement lined up for.

Tevez was a weird one actually as he did play quite well last year but the general feeling despite this is that he was coming past his best

So you know most of the Juve fans now, didn't realize you had so many friends. You also seem to know alot about the internal politics at Juve and why players were moved on.

Funny how all this fits your argument, at best you're playing devils advocate but it's probably just wummery. You remind me of Durham at Talksport ;)

how bad would it have to get and how long would it have to go on for for Pellegrini to be sacked this season? As much as i want him replaced asap and think he's holding this team back immensely i just can't see us getting rid of him mid-season. I think we'll remain loyal regardless
