He is a nice man, holistic and charming, very calm but i fear his race here is run.He does not seem capable of motivating the team or getting that extra 10% out of them to make the difference. His tactics at times verge on baffling and that is being kind. After a bright start we are falling into the pattern of last season and we all know what happened there. If Joe is out for a few games i see us losing against Southampton and Hull.Without Kompany we seem to be all over the place at the back and anyone pressing us and running at us with a bit of pace causes panic. If that fails lump some crosses into the box and we get bullied to death.

Now considering our two most important players are injury prone to say the least he needs to learn to get a system that works and quickly. That we went into the season with only two strikers and one of them is injury prone is criminal.

Of course we may get some players back and are more than capable of going on a run if we do but for me that will again just mask the problem. We all saw how ruthless the Sheikh was in binning Hughes and i feel his finger may be on the trigger again. The only saving grace is if Pepe is nailed on for next season and there is no decent short term replacement out there.City being City we may just suddenly click and top the league, sail through to the League cup final, get a decent draw in Europe and reach the quarter final. There again the opposite could just as easily happen. For me the manager worries me and fills me with no confidence and it has been that way for a while now.

If Ancelotti took over tomorrow I'd be pretty confident we'd win the league and probably pick up the league cup.

With Pellegrini the league is a long shot. To me it's looking more and more like MP got lucky. He took over what was a good but dispirited side and there was still enough of the Mancini defensive nous to get us over the line, just.

Now that's all a long time ago, we are a shambles. Juve are a fairly negative side but looked dangerous on the break all night. God help us when we inevitably draw Bayern or Barca.

Well put. Spot on mate.

So you know most of the Juve fans now, didn't realize you had so many friends. You also seem to know alot about the internal politics at Juve and why players were moved on.

Funny how all this fits your argument, at best you're playing devils advocate but it's probably just wummery. You remind me of Durham at Talksport ;)
Damo used to post on this ridiculous AC Milan forum which appeared to be aimed at the non-Italian based 15 year old Kaka fans from India type. It made our matchday thread look perfectly sane and reasonable.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and guess that his in depth knowledge of the popularity of various Juve players, past and present, stems from something quite similar.

He'll say it doesn't, but in all likelihood it seems more plausable than the notion of him conducting bilingual independent surveys with their very own singing section.

I really worry whether this season will be a carbon copy of last season. Some great spells and some wretched spells, with the poor patches knocking us out of cups and giving us too much to do in the league.

There is something about our current side that seems to slip into a kind of funk too easily. A bad result becomes 2 or 3 then we've suddenly got the likes of 2 wins from 6 games. We should win this league convincingly but we seem so fragile at times.

Have to agree with that, though I think Pellegrini also inherited a side with something to prove. That helped drive us to the league 2 years ago.

Lot of truth there mate , we have become a defensive shambles under him, or is it under Txiki? The team is evolving to a Pellegrini team, no backbone , no strong characters in the dressing room, also funny how shit we look without the previous managers signings in the team.

Going nowhere under this guy.

To be fair, Ancelotti's domestic league record isn't all that spectacular for some of the sides he's managed. There's an argument that he doesn't manage his squad that well, in terms of rotation over the course of a league season. But of course he's the vastly more accomplished coach than Pellegrini, and that tells itself in his record in cup competitions.

Don't think either are right for us though, personally.

I really don't know where we'll be left if Guardiola leaves us in the lurch and signs a renewal at Bayern.

Will mean Txiki put all our eggs in the Pep basket, only to see an ideal replacement like Klopp go to a rival in the meantime, and leave us in an uncertain position shopping at Sainsburys again, rather than Waitrose.

We need a top tier manager, badly. Really saddens me to think what we could have achieved with such a manager if we'd secured one when we dropped the axe on Bobby. More than 2 years building with this core of top players at their peak.

Instead what do we have to show for it?

Where's the clear progression, the clear coherency of the squad and the manner in which we play? The integration of youngsters with the quality to contribute if they're trusted sufficiently?

Do we look any better than the side that won the title in 2011/12?

Really saddens me to think that those core of players are reaching the end of their peak now, and they might never play in a CL semi for example. A talent like David warrants that stage. How can we hope to attract a player like Pogba here to become part of a new spine when we don't look at all truly competitive for the squad we have at the highest stage in Europe? We still look like pretenders, still look unconvincing. Poorer sides than us have accomplished more in the CL.

We have far and away the strongest squad in the league, which is why we're still favourites to be champions (as well as Chelsea's implosion), and maybe we'll win the league in spite of Manuel.

But where's the development of this squad, the clear upward trajectory of it going on to becoming a real force?

Don't know what City are going to turn up half the time.

Really, really frustrating.

To go back to Txiki though, if he's gambled our short term future just on the chance that Pep might say yes, and he goes elsewhere, or God forbid even to a league rival like the rags, then I'd be fucking fuming. Be reason enough to fuck him off IMO.
