Nope I wouldn't sack Pelligrini. He has shown a lack of being able to man manage the teams mindset before during and after games sometimes, other times he has made tactical changes that have won games.

But to suggest we upset the whole season, bring in a new manager (Which after all is a 50:50 call on if he will do any better - And that is after the inevitable settling in period), buy his preferred players and fit them into the squad, and give the national City hatred press even more chance to gloat etc is madness.

And I thank god that Mansour or whoever makes that decision, is a lot calmer about it. We would have got rid of Pelligrini and half the team if we had listened to the national press and City fans late last year.

This is the same 'calm' Mansour who sacked Mark Hughes whilst reaching a cup semi final by battering Arsenal ?

I recon if the options are there, he's gone. It's down to availability.

So can I assume by your reluctance to explain your opinion that we have a weak squad, that irrespective of how we perform and what kind of form trend the squad is showing, Manuel Pellegrini can count on your blind faith?

This kind of reminds me of the post exchanges I was having with your mate 'Pell not Pep' when I asked him would he change his username if indeed Pep did replace Pell, or would he change it to 'Pep Out' or just start a fresh axe grinding campaign? Incidentally, I'm still waiting on a reply from him too.

I think everyone can now see things very clearly where you and your mate are concerned.

Ahh your back looking for the morale high ground. I have in more than one post explained how are squad is weak, you have failed in every single post to say why it isn't. Any reluctance my friend is on your part. Pointless comparing squads with other PL teams, simply tell me why it is strong.

Yes we are performing poorly, again I have expressed my thoughts on this and that pellers takes some responsibility as should the players. Forgive me being a City fan unwilling to go to the lengths some on here are doing in slating our manager, but I guess being old school, that's my failing.

Would I sack him now? not a chance. Will he be replaced in the summer, probably. Will i be happy when he goes ? yes and no

The fact Pep hasn't signed a contract with Bayern, the rags story this morning, and the persistence with Pellers seems to point to the fact he is coming. As we know there are very few top coaches available. So not sure they would be waiting to make the change if they knew he was not coming. If we are still just living in hope and have no assurances then this is a big gamble. Personally would like Simeone if Pep was not to come but I know that does not fit in with the image the club wants to portray. Although having read a few articles about Pep he certainly doesn't seem to take any shit and like all good managers is not a good loser.

Another point I'd like to make regarding the player's relationship with Pellegrini. At no point have I ever had the feeling that the players don't want to play for Manuel, but yesterday it seemed to me that they may be having grave difficulty in responding to him which is s different thing altogether.

Someone mentioned that Ferguson managed to wring extra effort out of ManUre which turned defeats into draws and draws into victories and it was even coined as 'The famous ManUre fightback'. It's this fighting spirit that we seem to have lost. Perhaps the players still like and respect Manuel, but mentally they're no longer responding to his voice or his attempts to motivate the them.

If this is the case, it speaks volumes........

Well spoken Nev.

Pellers is complaining about the players being tired and that this was partly responsible for the Stoke fiasco. Yet he fails to see that he is largely responsible for this situation. As you said KDB is a perfect example. Rather than rest him and take him off as much as possible to save his legs, he has persisted in playing him almost non stop. The crunch game for me was the League Cup. That was a perfect opportunity to rest two or three of our key players and promote a Kean Bryan, or a Garcia, or a Roberts. Rather than do this we saw an almost full strength team against Hull, for gods sake. The players are probably tired because he played them all against Hull.

In showing more flexibility it's not just about managing the ambition of youth, its also about resting our key players in a demanding season. There have been countless times this season where he could have taken off one of our big names and brought on one of our young stars. However Pellegrini simply refuses to support our youth, and he fails to realise that the tiredness that he complains about is largely his own doing. To me rotating our young players at appropriate points in a game is a win/win. It gives them experience and rests our senior players.

To me it's a weak excuse to blame tiredness. The art of management in the modern era is to keep players as fresh as possible for these demanding seasons. The evidence points towards Pellegrini failing this test. In my opinion he needs to completely rethink the way he manages the squad. He talks a lot about trust. Well perhaps it's time to trust Kean Bryan, Patrick Roberts, Manu Garcia and others.
Let's see how many of the "injured" players miraculously recover for the CL match this week. It's so obvious where the priorities lay but it is to the detriment of our bread and butter stuff.

Whilst we disagree on Pellers I do agree with you on the squad. Take a look at the strikers now and two seasons ago. So would agree it's not as strong as we would believe without the key players.

I would like him gone now, but accept that whilst we are still, at least in theory, in with a chance of winning four competitions, he will be retained.

My major concern is dropping out of the top 4 - that would be a disaster for us, and I'm sure the powers that be would concur. Given Pellegrini's apparent antipathy towards league games, I'm sure there will be a sense of uneasiness within the corridors of the Etihad - at what point though will that uneasiness become an outright concern?

After Tuesday, we don't have to worry about CL or the cups until January. If we are out of the top 4 by end of December, would that be the point that triggers action from Khaldoon et al, or do we let it ride? My view is that Pep or no Pep, we should start sounding out alternative candidates now in order to save THIS season, just in case the above scenario unfolds in the next few weeks.
I said a while ago that MP's biggest risk is being out of the top 4 come 1st January. Whilst almost everything else that has gone on for over two months is deeply disappointing for everyone from Sheikh Mansour down to us, not being in the CL next season will not be tolerated.
I can't find any enthusiasm for dreaming of a trophy this season but, as I always say, top three must be the priority. After the recent financial and other off-field developments, the current state of affairs in the first team squad is utterly unacceptable. It's MP's job to sort this out. If he doesn't he will be gone. ADUG did it with Hughes and those that think they won't act mid-season are being, in my humble view, rather naive.
