It's worth noting mate that Silva played in each of those first 5 games and was the best player on the pitch in each of them.

Interesting stats on Navas win percentage, I knew he made a difference to the balance of the side, but I didn't realise that much. Be interesting to see the same stats for De Bruyne.
Indeed he was & he usually is. KdB has shown how good he is though, for me him or Silva would be plenty good enough in the central role with 2 wingers either side of them.

It was much easier to forgive the defensive flaws of Pellegrini's City when we had the scintillating attacking play to go with it.

Perhaps the players over the half way line are finding it difficult to score 3 goals every game because those on the other side of it are not properly coached in the art of defending?

The truth is they both need to help each other out and work together, as a team.

An opinion im increasingly starting to take.

It was always going to be one way or the other once the players found out pep was arriving in the summer and unfortunately, its beginning to look like they cant be arsed yet again.

Thats fine, give Pep what he wants and fuck the deadwood off once and for all regardless of who they are because if they think its tough now or they dont like being worked and given other things to do on the pitch, they are in for a rude fucking shock when Pep arrives.

Think it goes back to this time last year mate to be honest, its affording the manager too much slack to say all this talk of that nasty man Pep coming is to blame for it all.

He's too stubborn to play to the players strengths at the expense of his ideology about how he thinks the game should be played-this is the PL not La Liga, the pace of the game over here is catching his system out-the players are fucked mate imo.

This is the main point I think.

Pellegrini's 'full of holes' defensive method is never likely to win the Champs League & in fact he himself changed that in Seville, but his all out attacking style was initially so difficult to stop, that we could to some extent get away with the defensive chaos in most domestic games. The attack was fantastic.

I imagined his first season would be the most disorganised, then the defending would get better & the attack get even better, but we saw it fall apart last season at times (with CSKA being beyond all imagination) & barring the first few games of this season, the defence is actually worse now than it was in August 2013 & the attack has become mostly predictable & not so entertaining.

For me he's got to drop Yaya, not just on last nights performance but on the huge imbalance playing him has on the rest of the team. Also needs to choose Silva OR KDB.

Delph with Fernandiho, Silva or KDB in front of them with Navas (yes Navas) out one side and Sterling the other.

We lack pace out wide to stop teams fullbacks bombing at us with last nights selection plus KDB and Silva don't want to track runners from out there.

Yes he's been immense for us but it's time to move on, play him at home against certain opposition but for the big games it's the bench i'm afraid.

As for the back 4, Demichellis shouldn't play again, he probably will with the injuries to Kompany and now Mangala but i'd rather we tried to get Denayer back(?) or play Sagna there.

Time for Pellegrini to grow some balls with some of the first team squad.

Who are the Gods who will get peddled then?

I only see Yaya myself

You saying Silva,Aguero,Kompany, Zabba should be worried?

We dont have anymore Gods as you call them apart from those listed.

Shite like Kolorov,Bony, Fernando & Navas i agree with you , then you have the 30 somethings who will naturally be replaced anyway.
What !!! He looked more accomplished last night than many many others and the lad always puts in more than a decent shift both going forward and helping out defensively. He wont be one of Peps casualties believe me.

If we need to rest Silva at home to a bottom 6 side, I'm sure KDB could come in and grab a couple of assists or goals which would help with goal difference.

But against a decent side, or away from home, De Bruyne has constantly flattered to deceive. He gives the ball away too cheaply, and isn't in the same universe as Silva when it comes to running a game and dictating play.

As many other posters have said, the first 5 games this season before we bought De Bruyne is the best football we've played under Pellegrini.

It's a straight choice for me, what's more important - playing De Bruyne because he cost £50m, or picking a balanced team and winning games.

MP needs to get angry (though I'm not sure he's capable). Klopp was furious after pools loss to West Ham and he got a damn good reaction from them against Stoke. Not comparing the managers like but sometimes enough is enough, just shout a bit at them!
