Brendan Rodgers - (I'll put my tin hat on now) - Didn't Bobby Manc. want him at the Etihad some years back.?.

City won't 'wait' for Pep unless they in actual fact already have an agreement with Pep which neither party can break. That would be the only sensible way in which a business like ours would act in this situation.

My fear though is that Txiki isn't a rational businessman and his Pep fantasies, if he had his way, could see us chasing a pipe dream. Fortunately the biggest decisions will still be coming from Abu Dhabi.

Khaldoon wont risk waiting for Pep forget Txiki.

We have money to spend and 6000 extra seats to fill and our owners wont want to play poker on this.

What if I told you Soriano and Txiki's initial remit from Shiekh Mansoor was to get Pep and they are getting measured against that target!!!

I think klopp is the best fit for our current situation, the squad and club have gone stale this season.

I would like to see a manager stay gor 5-6 seasons and really build something, intergrate the academy players etc, i dont think Ancellotti really fits that bill, he takes over good squads with star names, stays 2 seasons then sods off.

Those questioning klopps record should remember that dortmund are skint, competing in the same league as one of the richest clubs in the world. They have sold there best players to there direct rivals. How would we get on if we sold aguero and silva to chelsea and replaced them with the likes of berahino and lallana?

klopp also has an engaging, if unconventional personality and would lift the whole club, Pellers may be a nice bloke but hes dull as dishwater and doesn't inspire the fans or players anymore
Ancelotti was at AC Milan for a good part of a decade.
Yeah why is there so much incorrect stuff about Ancelotti in this thread? He's won league titles pretty consistently, he's stayed ages at a club.

Cup manager? Short term? He's neither.

Nailing my colours to the mast - I actually rate him ahead (or at least the level) of Pep. Same goes for Klopp.

A week is a long time in football, how long ago was it in their remit?

We keep hearing this repeated over and over. Where's the truth or source behind this?

Can it be that both of these guys had done a decent job at Barca and that's why they were appointed at City?

That Pep's name is only in the gossip because Txiki is buddies with him not because of a conspiracy to lure him here all along.

We need a top tier maneger this summer, if Pep wants the job now then happy days if not we should be going all out to get Klopp or Ancelotti. It would be criminal to pass on Klopp on the off chance that Pep might some day come to City.

I want City to hire the best players manegers execs etc that we can attract.

Does 3 league titles in 20 years of management really count as consistent?

It does if it's every 6.6 years

2 years in England - 1 title
2 years in France - 1 title
2 years in Spain - ?

It's just bulked up by 1 title in ages in Italy in a time where most of the title wins over him have been chalked off due to corruption.

.. and if we went a season without the title as we'd won the Champions League (2× Milan, 1 × Real) it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Also another myth "can't bring through / improve players"

Only Pirlo, Kaka and Shevchenko.

I know Dortmund have lost a few players over the past couple of seasons but this place would be in meltdown if we were half way in the league with less than half the points of Chelsea. The German league is overall nowhere near as strong as the Premier League so to me Klopp's performance this year is totally unacceptable. He had a fantastic period at Dortmund with a team of young players and we saw them at their best against City. It may be that he will never be able to replicate this in his career.

We apparently want Guardiola and we have a good relationship with him. If he says to City that he is coming to us in a year's time then he will do that and we should wait. We have already had 3 managers since the Sheikh took over and we need to be very certain we are getting the person we want.

To accurately paint the picture of Dortmund's season, it would be similar to us losing Aguero and David Silva in consecutive seasons. Then replacing them with Berahino or Charlie Austin (Andrian Ramos) a lower team ST in the same league who had a decent season but isn't quite the player of Lewa(Aguero's) capacity and bringing back Robinho(Kagawa) who's obviously not the same player he once was the first go around. Then you add in the physio room problems keeping players out of the squad for various lengths at a time, similar to what we we're already dealing with. Mix that all in with a league full of teams that aren't afraid to have a go at you and we are lucky to not be in the same league position as Dortmund right now.

The Bundesliga is actually more solid than the PL is right now, Bayern Munich are extremely good and an outlier to a tough league outside of them. The league is high pressing and very direct, not afraid to have a go, the type of teams we have been losing to all season. The only thing we have different than Dortmund this season is we don't have to worry about top players leaving unless we want to unload. Honestly any manager of his calibre would say enough is enough and want to move on. All season he's had to deal with the rumors in press conferences and other media about his World Cup stars leaving. Those looking to leave haven't really put a shift in all season and they are mainly on the defensive side like Hummels/Subotic who had their mind made up in the beginning of the season.

Yesterday we saw a Pep's Munich team beaten again during this heavy injury spell. Can Pep handle a team where all his top stars are all injury prone? Klopp needs a fresh start because he and the club have realized that he's taken them as far as he can go and we would be the perfect place as we are looking for a fresh start as well.
