Khaldoon wont risk waiting for Pep forget Txiki.

We have money to spend and 6000 extra seats to fill and our owners wont want to play poker on this.

What if I told you Soriano and Txiki's initial remit from Shiekh Mansoor was to get Pep???

We keep hearing this repeated over and over. Where's the truth or source behind this?

Can it be that both of these guys had done a decent job at Barca and that's why they were appointed at City?

That Pep's name is only in the gossip because Txiki is buddies with him not because of a conspiracy to lure him here all along.
Correct

I'm not going to say how I know or why I know - but the Shiekh & Khaldoon had stipulated to try as hard as they could to get Pep - They also understand that they can't get everything they want - and I'm sure they will do the right thing.

they were recruited as they came highly recommended and fit in with the vision of Abu Dhabi (Sheikh)

My opinion is Klopp has been lined up or at least spoken to (as have Ancelotti & Pep) - I believe in coincidences - I don't think Real Madrid is the right fit for Klopp - he needs security and assurances for development and longevity to implement what he needs. My only concern is Arsenal

I met someone at lunch who is normally pretty good at these ITK moments - anyway - as they were leaving I said - Klopp to City then? They said - don't rule out Spurs.
Are we buying Klopp some cowboy boots too?

Would love to see Klopp come here. He's such a likable guy, and the passion he shows on the touchline would go down well with the fans, it's infectious.

The team needs to be refreshed; get Klopp and that's half the job done imo. He might even bring that Footbonaut thing they have at Dortmund!

Not going to dispute what you state regarding Pep but it would be very foolish for a club and a project the size of ours to put our eggs all in one basket it's too risky.

Just to add fuel to your debate, here is the link to an interview with Soriano just after we appointed Manuel.
Transcript of in depth interview between Mogden and Soriano

Mogden asked:Ever in the market for Guardiola? said:
"In reality the answer is 'no', because I know Pepe. Txiki knows Pep. So we don't need to be in the market for Pep. If Pep decided to come to England I think he would have called us, right? But at the time we had our own manager and we were not in the market. Pep made his own position clear. He is going to a big club. I also think he is very young - he is 41 now - and after Germany he probably will come to England to coach somewhere.
"The other thing is that, from my perspective having seen and worked in another league, the size of the Premier League is huge in all senses. I'm talking the financial perspective but in all other senses the Premier League is the best league in the world. So I forsee a huge number of players and managers wanting to play and work in the Premier League."

Mogden asked:Was there actual interest from you in Pep? If he was interested in coming said:
"If he would do this now, we would because we are actively looking for a manager. But at the time, it was not the time. With Pep, the conversation is not about us chasing him or him chasing us. Pep and Txiki speak regularly, maybe weekly, so that would have been an easy one. We are now convinced that we will bring a manager who will be what we are looking for. We are very convinced about that."

This was in 2013 when we appointed Pellegrini and since then we have now become a club struggling for 4th and this was an interview with a man who I believe is now more involved with New York.

It's only my opinion but I feel that both Txiki and Pellegrini are in a bad position and Ferran as distanced himself from this.

Txiki needs to get this next appointment spot on and yes would ideally want Pep but he may know this may be a year too far.

I cant believe he's going to be in charge for West Ham.

I honestly reckon if he loses that, he'll be out the door faster than Clattenburg for an Ed Sheeran gig.

But all that assumes it's Txiki's decision and he will make the appointment , it's not a decision made without input from Mansour all the way down to Txiki, he may do the recomending and leg work but he doesn't decide.

People were saying (and rather hoping) that it would happen if he lost the derby which he duly did. He appears to be bulletproof.

Ferran Soriano runs Manchester City, as in he is the day to day boss. He is not involved with NYCFC past being a board member.

Tom Glick runs New York, as in he is the day to day boss.

Soriano has not "lost his focus on City because of New York". He's barely involved in it past board meetings in the same way that Khaldoon is with City.
