What are the odds on Pellegrini staying another year?

I think that would be a very bad idea indeed but I can see it happening. I don't see Pep leaving Bayern this season.

I think the club have been put in a very awkward position.

They run the risk of turning a gentleman character into a figure of hate if they keep him around, simply because some sections of our support can see more viable candidates emerging on the market.

As someone who won two trophies in his first season, he would not deserve that.

Whenever a poor result, the hostility of missing out on a superior candidate would come to the fore, thus, impacting the team and results for yet another season.

We've had little wider recognition for attempting to run the club the right way, so playing to the peanut gallery, just to earn some temporary platitudes, would be a huge error on the part of Khaldoon and our owner. I'm sure they never really wanted to sack Hughes and Mancini either.

But sack them, they did.

I do feel Txiki is under enormous pressure to make Pep happen this summer or he will also be shown the door.

FFP created a holding pattern we could do little about, but the prospect of another season of stagnation, when the owners can have a direct say, one way or another, with regards the man at the helm, I don't envisage that being off the table.

If Pep isn't available this summer, will the club stick with MP?

If not then whom?

Can't see Pep arriving in the summer.

I can see he and Bayern parting ways but don't think he'd jump right back into another job.

You would be wrong on this, although perfectly entitled to hold this view, because of what he did after stepping down at Barca.

The window of opportunity is closing for both Pep and Txiki.

It will be this window or not at all.

Really?! seems crazy. Pep has a year left, because of 1 loss against Porto there is suddenly a real chance he could go this summer?!

Given the type of signings we'are likely to make in the summer, and the make up of next years squad. The question the club have to ask themselves is ,is Pellegrini going to get them playing like the first 20 games of last season or will it be more like the last 20 of this season.
I believe they will stick with him . I'm also of the opinion he would be more likely to play with one up front if he had a three something like Sterling Silva and De Bruyne as an option, than he is playing a three from Milner, Navas, Nasri and Silva.

Seems to be a lot more politics in play than would appear, although I think it is more down to the pressure for Txiki to put things right in the immediacy, rather than the promise of better things to come at the end of two years from now.

The pressure isn't on Tixki to land Guardiola ( I doubt he or the rest of the board is fixated at all and they are more bothered in turning us into one of Europe's superpowers) imo, The pressure is on him offloading and bringing in the players who can take this club even further within the constraints of FFP and if we did keep Pellers for another season then he has to identify the right candidate for the season after.

We would be all rich men, wouldn't we?

Not sure how I would feel, anyhow.

I feel Klopp's character traits and City are very much suited to the job that is required in the next five years.
At what point do you pull the plug though if you're City?

Even if you're Bayern for that matter?

It may be Pep this window or never but the same applies for other possible candidates who could also be available. Wait for one and you might miss them all and one is already on the market.

Fair enough, I would be very surprised if Pep was our manager next season. How realistic do you think it is TH?

There's something about Pellegrini's demeanour at the moment, he just seems too calm for the situation he's in, wouldst go as far to say a couldn't give a fuck attitude but he looks like and acts like a man that knows he's leaving.

The players also on Saturday appeared to be playing with too much of lease of new life if you like-as if they trying to impress somebody perhaps.

Quite a surreal game in a lot ways.

I don't see it as remote as the majority, but only because I feel results always dictate.

I suppose, on Bayern's part, why would they give away their true position?

Pep earns £12m a year and with a year left on his deal would be entitled to a large slice of compo, if City came calling.

I think Klopp has been very smart coming out when he did. He knows top jobs are opening up across Europe.
