I'm still going to stick up for txiki and Soriano. Garry cook worked under no FFP restrictions and was buying any player he could. The transfer market wasn't as heavily inflated as it is now too. Soriano and txiki came to a club which was losing millions per season. With ffp coming in, they had to strengthen areas which they thought was weak. 13/14 transfers where okay, the only failure was jovetic who was potentially our best signing that summer. Without those summer signings, we wouldn't of won the double. Many argue why any of those signings key players for us. Fernandinho, who was the most expensive signing that summer, was a key signing and currently our best midfielder. He will be with us next season. Negredo was class, but sold on for a profit. Navas contributed a hell of a lot last season, you can't argue over his price tag either. Jovetic has just had an nightmare, we expected so much from him but just hasnt got going.

This summer, he moved on some deadwood for very good prices, which was vital due to ffp stitching us up. He bought mangala and fernando, two positions which needed strengthening. They haven't worked out well, no doubt about it. If we could go back to summer and buy fabregas and Sanchez while promoting denayer, I think he would. He got last summer wrong, but I do sympathise with him. The season before, we had the best attacking line up in the country, why add to it when other areas need strengthening. Without ffp, we would bought more players last summer, Yayas replacement would of been one. That will be our number one target this next window, he's been the heartbeat of this team but simply hasn't turned up this year. Maybe that was another decision txiki could of dealt with better, letting yaya go and buying fabregas. But to be fair, majority wanted yaya to stay due to the season he just had. Bony will be dzekos replacement, but the jury is still out on him.

Soriano is doing an absolute brilliant job on the commercial side, making us nearly self efficent, with lots more growth potential. That was nearly unimaginable a few years ago.

Txiki has had one bad summer, but I really do think he will turn out good this summer.

Sorry - look what he's spent and what he's bought.
As for Soriano - you're right, looks ok but making decisions with the Sheik's backing is clearly a lot easier than making difficult decisions with a cash strapped airline. Still - on paper he's doing ok - but if the stipulation is that if he stays Tkiki stays - adios !

Glad most of you are now seeing how it really and realise that most of our summer signings have been way below parr. I realise emitions are high after loss in the derby but i think signs have been showing throughout the season. I pointed out that i wouldnt be arsed if he went which was followed by a number of blues slagging me off for it. We'll just see wait happens some regarding everyone the DOF too the youth team, should be interesting.

Txiki's signings honestly haven't been that bad. While he's only made one signing that improved the first team (Fernandinho) the rest of the money has improved the squad. I think we're now seeing the effects of what happens when you don't buy world class players at our level. We're not far off though, if we get the right players in this summer, we'll be one if the stronger sides in Europe, that I'm confident of.

I think Txiki is learning, and I think this could actually be one of the bigger issues to come out of this season.

As we know Txiki, the professional he is, likes to carefully scout his targets and get business done early and efficiently. Now this naturally means that not only do players know they're being targeted by us, but that players at our club know they're on the way out.

At Barcelona, this is mitigated by the fact that if players are being moved on, and drop in performance and commitment, that the only real competition for them is Real Madrid, and thus Barca are guaranteed at worst 3rd in the past decade despite squad problems and underperformance. Also, they have a much more established academy, and more hungry and talented squad players, committed to playing for Barca, with its huge reputation, and thus even on the pitch performances aren't as badly affected.

I think, whilst its with the best intentions, this policy has absolutely scuppered us, as when the players we want to shift down tools, the team can't carry them. There isn't enough quality depth, not enough hot potential youth there ready and waiting, and not enough world class talent to carry the side. There's also a hell of a lot more competition in our league, and that combination has really hit us hard imo.

So I think Txiki has been using established policies in good faith that work well at really established top clubs. Unfortunately for him, City have proven not be at that level and it's massively backfired on him. It's really unfortunate, but it's not a terminal mistake, because I'm sure it will be rectified in the summer. However hopefully he's learned from this, and maybe modifies his approach next year, as I think this year it's unintentionally really backfired, and we now need to crawl through to the end of the season in 4th, and we'll need to rely on winning our home games and hoping Liverpool drop points. 14 points needed if Liverpool win all theirs.

We still cannot rule out Southampton either.

Would anyone seriously back us to beat them if we had to in the last game.

Effectively they are a win against us and two points behind us.

They have Stoke, Sunderland, spurs, Leicester, Villa and us to play.

They are not out of this and if they were within 2 points if us going into that last game, who would bet against them doing it based in our form.

Just sack him and Soriano.

They have spent +130 million Pound on average players, the only valuable one was Fernandinho.

Has this summer to ship out the deadwood who are still here and bring in some world class players and perhaps even a world class manager.
I will judge after that.

Some German media outlet saying we have put the feelers out for Sven Bender if that's true dreary me.

I have more and more doubt about Mansour giving Txiki150-200m to spend in the summer.

What if he blows it for Mangala, Bony, Fernando type signings meaning good squad players what which of them did improve the first team big time?

If he fucks up this summer imo especially with all that money instead of rebuilding the first team with 3-4 new very strong class player than we are fucked.

And then on top of that he might let this Pellegrini to have the new squad when he only can get a 4th place out of the current one?

This season might be better then the next one will be. But I trust Mansour that he really wants CL success and another trophies and if he wants that he will be ruthless to make changes hopefully.
