For me, Barca are more than a club, based on [Johan] Cruyff, [La] Masia, Catalonia and Unicef. These are the pillars of the club and our proposal.

“[Cruyff] changed the philosophy of the club, created a winning mentality and a philosophy that is admired worldwide

This philosophy has allowed us to win all the titles we could win. We did it with Txiki Begiristain, Frank Rijkaard, Pep Guardiola and it’s continued with Luis Enrique.

What the fuck would HE know? These lads here read the papers, they know the real score

It's actually interesting there that Txiki gets bracketed in with the successful managers of the club.

I think he's just listing the people who built and executed the Barcelona philosophy that turned them into the most successful team in the history of football.

Interesting that he's gone for Abidal for Txiki's old job should he win the Presidency. You'd imagine it means Txiki has knocked him back

Yeah, definitely. He's showing how important Txiki was in the building of the club. In its current form. When we win the champions league I hope to see him being given that recognition here.

Good point about the knock back, doesn't surprise me. Didn't the likkle City brigade havie him running there like a shot when they clicked their fingers?

Yeah, him and Soriano were purposely sabotaging City as a way of keeping us down so we couldn't compete with Barca then running off to join Laporta with Guardiola when he got reelected.

That's not even a joke either, that was a real series of posts by several people.

Was widely reported a couple of months back in the Catalan press that the first phone call Laporta made after deciding to run again for President was to Txiki, but that Txiki was firm in his knock back saying he had a big project at City he wanted to stick with. I'd say the reports were fairly reliable as Laporta in particular is very close to sections of the Catalan media. Abidal is a shrewd political appointment, be interesting to see how he actually does as a DoF.

Personally I've been taken aback by the sheer hostility levelled at Txiki in particular by segments of our support, and I'm not just talking about kids on the internet. It seems for whatever reason he has rubbed up some of our more seasoned supporters the wrong way too. I listened to the Bluemoon Podcast end of season thing which was recorded live and it made me chuckle how the only comments/questions from the audience were a couple of what sounded like older Blues having a pop at the "barca boys". Pretty sure they made a mess of trying to pronounce Begiristain too. Maybe should've practiced in front of the mirror before going on a live podcast recording try and slate the club's executives.

IMO, the biggest thing in terms of the perception of Aitor is that he was perceived as getting rid of Mancini to put his own man in the manager's seat. Mancini was very popular with a lot of fans and some of them haven't forgiven him for it.

Not surprised that he wants to stay, though. Doesn't his role encompass the whole CFG and not just City? A very exciting project for someone like him, I'd imagine.
