I'm sure most football administrators would have done an equally good job if they had been given a virtual blank cheque to sign whoever we need.

No professional experience, decent amount of knowledge. So do you know who DOES have knowledge of football administration? People who have worked in it. Who pretty much roundly agree he's the best in the world at what he does.

Maybe you should acquiesce to their opinion?

People are rather queit on the otamendi/lopes and Denayer fiasco aren't they

He's identified and purchased the players to improve the squad but it's not his job to motivate them, rotate them, pick them and play them in their best positions.

Is it Txiki's fault if MP chooses to play KDB in goal?

well to be fair, partly, as he's had a large hand in appointing him, and you'd hope he'd vetted Pellegrini enough to know he wouldn't go mental and do such a thing, not that he will.

But if Pelle did go potty, then you would look at Txiki and go "why the hell did you appoint this maniac?"

It's because it's not by any means "a fiasco" and you're somebody who cannot possibly see when they've had a shit opinion, which has been pointed out as a shit opinion all along and now has been provably shown to have a shit opinion.

This opinion is more about you than Txiki which is both equally sad and pathetic

well, because it's not a fiasco, just a rather childish overreaction by people who are preconditioned to need to moan about something, and needed to find something to satisfy their irrepressible urges.

There's a weird psychology in being proved wrong. People hardly ever actually take it on the chin and accept it. You can see it above: you either get that sort of grudging 'well it's hard not to admit he's done ok' which is really a thin mask for 'still don't like him but will bide my time', or you get that horrible sour 'yeah but, no but, should have signed X' which you can also see starting to sprout above.

'Anyone can spend £200m' will be the last line of defence I would imagine when the really quality of his squad shows itself this season.

It's human nature. We all do it. People very rarely actually say 'I got it totally wrong'. Fascinating to watch it pan out on this thread though...

I'm not sure who you are aiming this criticism at to be honest, I haven't followed this thread too much, so I'm surprised that there seems to be such an ardent fan base for a football executive of all people.

It seems to me that this is more of a weird extension of the "Mancini Out Pellegrini In" debate, rather than genuinely anything to do with how the clubs executives are performing.
