I think its a bit cheap to pay Tevez £250k a week and bulk at giving staff what is effectively a £1k benefit in kind. Sometimes to get the best out of staff little gestures go a long way. City have always been penny wise. They pay staff pretty poorly anyway because of the kudos of working at the club. Show some class City!

Christ my wife works at ASDA is on just above the minimum wage does she get £1.4k of groceries free every year does she fook.

Well done City get shut of any trouble makers there are loads of fish out there in "the real world" that are aching for a job.

Some of these members of staff perhaps need 12 months on the dole to realise that perhaps life isn't so bad afterall!

I'm guessing you're not the Union rep at the stables then Ed ?

And although they announce sell-outs there are always empty seats.”

The irony of this comment probably escaped the staff member! I'm sure most of us would rather the seats went to genuine supporters rather than being empty or being sold on at a profit by the staff.

Gonna play devils advocate here and ask that if these season tickets have been a part of the employees contract on top of the salary then I think they have a right to complain if the tickets have been taken away. Surely it's just the same as saying we're going to pay you £500 less per year from now on. It's irrelevant what other clubs do or don't about their season tickets and their staff members.

"In addition to financial compensation, staff would also have the opportunity to purchase season tickets at a discounted rate"

This line seems to suggest they are being financially compensated though?

If they are being compensated to the same value as half a season ticket price then I don't see a problem.

see this quote from the employee “We always got two free season tickets which we all classed as part of our salaries."

To me that was just a perk which was now taken off, nothing that was part of their contracts. Absolutely nothing an employee can complain about.

I personally think this employee should've kept his mouth shut. anyway I've never understood why the employees got two ST's. I back the club all the way on this one

The concept of removing a benefit will leave some with a bad taste in their mouths. So I can understand the uproar. I am sure many do sell on the tickets and I reckon they also get quite a few other BIK's e.g. multiple Wembley tickets no doubt. But these are the things that make working for "City" worthwhile. I do happen to know the pay is pretty poor.

My experience of the ticket office; turn stile staff; accounts department; food & beverages staff (albeit some are contract staff) tells me that if you pay peanuts........

It strikes me that the money invested on the playing staff should be a model used throughout the club. "you get what you pay for"

And so it begins it's journey from the MUEN to the nationals, watch the comments as soon the rag frothers will be out... <a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2332707/Manchester-City-staff-slam-club-withdrawing-free-season-tickets.html?ito=feeds-newsxml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... ds-newsxml</a>

Go work for someone else and see what they give you free, sweet FA. Moaning bastards, people who work for banks / building societies get access to preferential mortgages, they dont get a free house! Cheeky fuckers

I get a preferantial mortgage but, believe me, by the time the tax man takes the "benefit in kind" tax, it's no better than most people pay.

I'm certainly not complaining but there are no perks anymore.

I'm grateful to get a salary every month

The comment about announcing sell outs when it's not full has no relevance to their situation, but maybe it's a contributing factor as you wouldn't be as bothered missing a game if you weren't paying.
