Disillusioned with Football £££

Not so much the football is putting me off but more so how the game is covered. Especially the god awful TV coverage, with the woke panels and so called banter it is just totally unwatchable, truly hate how the game is covered. Its looks like it has been devised by people who dont understand the game or even like it but feel a need to force it upon football fans.

Am I the only one who regardless of the other points raised, discards the argument as soon as they revert to using "woke"?

As I've got older I've tended to give less fucks about things that aren't too important. Football is one of them, we all know that the money involved is ridiculous, best to not let it rule your head.

Not at all, but if we don’t sign anyone and the rag shit get Kane or Mbappe then I’ll probably veer more towards rugby and distance myself from football.

I just wish we’d be the ones spending obscene amounts, I’d be delighted with that! Biggest incomes from the Treble, great commercial deals thanks to our board, best owner in the world, plus Pep, Haaland, Kev, the Treble, yet we spend like a mid table club. Should be cementing our dominance while we can and pulling away from the rivals, not being complacent or worried what dicks on Sky will say about ‘ruining football’. Fuck ‘em all.
I know what you're saying, but isn't that a bit like what the rags are trying to do? You can assemble the richest squad and get nowhere, you only have to look at PSG to confirm that. I don't think we could possibly do any more than what we are doing now - we could have only played 2 more matches last season - and for me, the fact that the rags spent more than us and got (more or less) fuck all makes it all the sweeter. I want us to win it on merit not buy it, and it's great to see the young players coming through too and playing a part. I'm proud of that and I don't give a toss what anybody else thinks either way, it's only jealousy anyway.

I never understand this “money is ruining football” shite. Usually spouted by rags who cant deal with not being top dogs any more and bail out of being rags and start watching teams like county. I know a good few.
They give the reason that the prem has been ruined by money but what they really mean is “i cant deal with us not being the best anymore, being way behind city isnt what i signed up for so im going to jump ship, use that as an excuse, and jump on the county band wagon because they are doing ok”

Money has always been at the fore front of football.
Was it blackburn in the late 1800s who started paying players and turning the game pro?
Arenal in the 20s (or 30s, id have to check) poaching the top team of the decade, huddersfield, manager herbert chapman and half their team to become the top team themselves.

To Everton in the 50s and 60s being known as The Millionaires due to their funding by the moores family/littlewoods pools and then 2nd division liverpool who were funded by the same family to make them as big as everton. And subsequently dominating for 20 years.

To brian clough lauded as a genius (which he prob was) but conviniently forgetting he smashed several transfer records and bought the first million pound player.

To united, liverpool, arsenal, spurs abolishing the 25% cut of attendances to the away team to ensure the bigger teams with the bigger crowds made more money.

To united going PLC and effectively going into partnership with the prem and dominating for 20 years. Buying who they wanted.

To good old jack walker making dreams come true at blackburn. White man walker , so different to our nasty arab oil money.
Same with hollywood star ryan renolds funding wrexham and the class of 92 funding salford!

And that was just a few examples. So if the money in football bothers you, then football probably isnt the sport for you.

If you can't stomach it, walk away. If you still want football, support Maine Road or Droylesden.

We are where we are, and we ain't going back, and as long as large numbers of people (not necessarily from the UK) support the PL and spend money on its product, the model is not going broke.

Whether you like it or not (and there are tons of things I wish were different) we are not going to change it. At least not to any significant extent.

When people talk about footballers wearning obscene amounts of money and how disgusting it is and how terrible it is that a nurse earns £30k a year whilst a footballer earns £30k a day they fail to mention 2 things.

1
Footballers pay huge amounts of tax to fund nurses wages.

2
Football is essentially the entertainment industry. Its funded by ticket sales, tv revenue. Its funded by The People.
Much in the same was as singers and actors.
So when people say how disgusting it is how much haaland earns they have no problem with paul mccartney being a billionaire or tom cruise earning multiple millions per film
