Disillusioned with Football £££

As a general point and not aimed at any one individual I do wonder how much of this sudden objection to vast sums of money going around in football is genuine concern about the financial health of our society and how much of it is actual racism as it is Arabs spending all of a sudden.
The white, European, leagues have spent vast sums of money for decades in order to colonise the world’s talent with barely a peep from a concerned populace. Saudi Arabia comes along and does likewise, albeit on a much smaller scale than the Europeans have done for so long, and there is uproar.

I say good luck to the Saudi league and I hope it prospers. I’ve enjoyed watching English football buy the worlds best talent for decades, I can hardly complain now somebody else is doing it.

You could try going to some lower league games/following an amateur team.

It's a very different experience and it also makes you appreciate the football City play even more.

Personally I definitely feel less emotionally invested in City in the last few years and treat it more like entertainment.

The Saudi stuff will force the ESL to happen and then the game as we know it will be absolutely fucked.

Then we should start a petition to have our name removed from the club if they sell their arse for ESL coin.

I'm not disillusioned with the money being spent but on how it is perceived and reported on.

Here we go with sky.

For years they have slated us for spending money, they even trotted out the line about nurses not being paid enough in one story about us.

Now look at them. Lording up this deal and saying it's a win win.

Unbelievable they are these sour cunts at sky.

My objection isn't really aimed at the players - it isn't their fault they are being offered huge amounts of money to play, and I certainly wouldn't expect them to turn it down.

It's more the guys in suits who are throwing their money at the players rather than just keeping the game affordable for the average joe, and paying the players a mere £10,000 a week rather than £300,000 a week.

I suppose it all loops back round to the salary cap argument.

I can't see ticket prices coming down regardless of what the player's earn. Just be more money for the owners.

The game as we know it will remain exactly how it is - 2 teams playing each other with the objective to score more goals than the opponents. That’s it.

It may evolve in terms of competitions and possibly a completely new set up to what we’re used to, but that’s evolution due to the vast amounts of money swimming in the game.

We’ll still support City. We’ll still sign the best players and we will still win trophies.
