Divorce on the rise UK

Not surprising as the media seem obsessed with men wanting to be women and women wanting to be men. I divorced 24 years ago but remarried with someone compatible 20 years ago and still very happy together. Both marriages with people of the opposite gender by the way!

Nearly every couple I knew broke up after having kids.

I’ve had four attempts at proper relationships and they’ve all gone belly up. Four divorces? I didn’t marry any of them.
Kids definitely put a strain on any relationship. It most cases the days of going out to nice restaurants and holidays go out of the window as priorities change. Tidiness and the ground hog day of routine really make it hard. However there are plenty of plus points too. I suppose it’s about getting through those tougher times.

How many marriages were there in the UK?

85,770 marriages

There were 85,770 marriages in total in England and Wales in 2020, a decrease of 61.0% from 219,850 in 2019; the lowest number of marriages on record since 1838.

Whilst the population is many many times larger marriages are many times smaller, people just don't like each other enough to work at a marriage any more.

I am married and will remain married but good luck to all those single minded folk floating around eating each other genitals without any commitment ;)

To be fair with all the COVID shit in 2020 I'm surprised that many got married

?
You married a Man (or woman) and then married a Woman (or man)?

No, four attempts at proper relationships ; )
1.) Went away to university and then her mum died. It changed her and we were both too young.
2.) Hard drinking Swedish nymph who was just too high maintenance despite being an incredible lover.
3.) Had no self confidence despite being very clever. Too awkward around others and felt I was too good for her.
4.) Lazy twat just determined to waste her life. Claimed I never put her first despite having her by my side when I got the all clear from cancer. She knew before anyone.

Forgive me for not remaining in unhappy places just to have someone. If you use your own relationship against someone else then you’re profoundly insecure about it. And they love wankers.
