Do foreign fans understand the hatred?

Hate is a very strong word and it's a word I would try not to equate with football, dislike may be, but hatred is taking it all a bit too far in my opinion.

When all said and done it's a game of football, the operative word being GAME, to hate one set of people because they support another club, is taking it all a bit too far
Mmmmmmm......................... Nah speak for yaself mate. In football terms hatred just about sums up how I feel about the Rag bastards! When we were shit they made my life a fuckin misery and I don't forgive or forget that easily.

An enemy is for life not just until we're at their level.

I support my team and club, no room for hatred, far to many people on here are obsessed by them, and in my opinion it's unhealthy, I really don't care about them they are a club that are in slow decline, whilst City are on the ascent, in a few years they will be in Liverpool's position living off their "istry"

Just a question to our foreign based City fans..

Do you get the hatred we have for the rags?

Obviously you are not as exposed as we are in Manchester/Uk to rags in the flesh..so maybe the rivalry doesn't impact on you as much?

I don't hate them in fact I'm really enjoying the scrap for the title and I'd rather we were scrapping with them than say Chelsea for instance, apart from all of that my son is a United fan and there is no hate there, just a really good rivalry .

Some City fans are surprisingly tolerant. The so-called City fan Stuart Hall, in his sports column in the current Radio Times, picks his best England team for the upcoming game. He includes FIVE United players (Smalling, Jones, Scholes, Rooney, Young) and just Joe Hart from us. Even has Walker ahead of Micah, who's not even mentioned as a sub. I know this thread is about dislike, but surely he's looking through red-tinted spectacles? Or does he really know as much as he thinks?????

maybe i can help with the question...I am from Spain. I follow Madrid, but i don´t understand what is "rags"

here's a taste of the rivalry in Toronto. this video was from Derby Day (aka: the greatest day ever)

<a class="postlink" href="http://video.thescore.com/watch/manchester-derby-fan-reaction" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://video.thescore.com/watch/manches ... n-reaction</a>

until the last few years, after i explained to acquaintances that i supported Manchester City they would invariably think that i meant the scum and i would always have to roll my eyes and explain the vast difference between God's Own Football Club and the red bastards.

mercifully, our day has come... now they all resent me and think i wasn't a supporter when Dickov slid.

Manchester United and everything associated with them there are a number of theories to why we call them Rags

I think there's a distinction to be made between hating them personally or as football fans. Two of my sons turned out to be Rags inspite of my vain attempts to convert them back to where they started as blues. When we sunk into the old 3rd division, they were nearly in tears that I was forcing them to be different to all their friends by insisting that they remain blue so I let them make and take the road they have which broke my heart.

I obviously don't hate my sons, but I hate them as typical arrogant Rags!! The younger of the two recently referred to us City fans as scumbags! I fuckin despair...

As a loving parent, I would never wish any harm or displeasure to afflict any of my children apart from those two where football is concerned. Whilst growing up, my sons, my friends and work colleagues took the piss out of me mercilessly for supporting City, but I now take great pleasure in reminding them that I always told them nothing but nothing lasts forever and that one day I'd live long enough to see us back where we belonged which was ahead of them. We've not achieved that feat as yet, but the sense of relief I'll feel if that day ever comes will be fuckin immense!

The difficult takes time, the impossible takes that little bit longer...............
