Do you agree with the announcement timing of pep to city?

News would have leaked so best to come clean and Pellers put a brave face on it.

It's no excuse whatsoever for players not going balls out for all the silverware going.

It was never a realistic option to keep trying to maintain the pretence through until the end of the season.

I'm not sure that it can be used as a reason for the deterioration in performances. Its true we were better placed before the announcement but there were very clear signs that things weren't right. Performances have been up and down all season with the exception of the first few games. And it has been suggested that the players already knew before the official announcement.

I was happy enough at the time and thought it was the right decision. Now I'm not so sure.

For Pellegrini to use it as an excuse as he has been doing shows just how weak he is as a person and a manager. It was his job to keep the players focused and one he was paid handsomely for. Bayern Munich won everything in 2013 when they knew Pep was coming partly because they still had confidence in the manager. If the players' performance has been affected it was because they had lost faith in Pellegrini and his methods. The signs of this were there well before the announcement was made.

Just wondering if that drop of in form was coincident with when the players first got wind of pep being confirmed

Could be,But as fans we are at the bottom off the list off the knowledge & will only find out in time as we did when Bobby Manc had gone..
But if its true & ive said its previously, professionally they should off welcomed the news but instead they just undermined their own positions as am not good enough,
which i find as un-professionally as low as you could go..

I felt the contract extension and announcement was a good idea and clearly an attempt to head off speculation about the manager's future. Why you then decide to announce that that he's leaving a few months later I don't know. Either we underestimated the level of speculation about the outgoing/incoming manager or decided it didn't matter. Maybe we got wind that Bayern were about to release the news and wanted control over the announcement ourselves? It is representative of the fuzzy thinking we appear to have at managerial level. Take time to make a decision then stick to it. I'm not sure it's made much difference at all to performances on the field but it's a nice talking point for the media if you're into that sort of thing.

Surely the players should have been thrilled to know such a respected manager was coming to the Club?

If they truly are professionals then it would not matter when the announcement was made, sort yourselves out and show what you are made of you lazy buggers.
