Tbh I find his comment confusing. If whatever he is referring to happened during a break in the relationship then so what? Unless he is expressly asked whether anything happened with anyone else while they were apart and has lied about it, why bring it up.
The fact that he goes on to say that he doesn't want a relationship built on lies suggests that there is more to it.
