Do you like Christmas?

I think it's tedious because it's basically the same shit each year.

Going into supermarkets and hearing that fucking shite Slade record does nothing for my mood. Especially when it's played for weeks on end.

I can quite understand religious people going to church and taking part in the special services. It's a matter of celebrating Jesus's birth, even though he almost certainly was not born on 25 Dec. But for most people, all it amounts to is a plate of turkey - the vilest and most tasteless meat known to man, which no normal person eats at any other time - and many hours of utter shite on TV.

As for having a drink, I can do that any time, any day I like. I don't need an excuse, nor do I like pubs crowded out by wankers.

Aww mate. That sounds awful to go through and no wonder its been so difficult. I'm sending you a massive bear hug.

Thanks pal, same to you as well mate. I don't really talk about it outside of this forum to be honest as I'm not much of a talker, but I get the counselling I need on here. And I hope you manage to have a nice Christmas despite what you're going through.

Miserable bugger ;)

I like christmas but we do it our own way, we eat what we want and we don't do our shopping at the last minute, people put too much pressure on themselves for what is a glorified Sunday dinner.

I love it. So does my mrs. Our kids are grown up/left the nest and we enjoy it even more. We love the whole cosy feeling, winter walks and and warm house, Baileys followed by more Baileys. We spend all year listing and then buying each other presents and for the last few years we have started making each other stuff. She knitted me a jumper last year and I made her some perfume. We just love christmas, even our dogs do.
Wonderful

I’ve come full circle. I loved it as a kid, obviously. I hated it from say 19 - 38. And now I’m enjoying it again, mainly because me and the Mrs go out on Christmas Day for a curry, great entertainment, few beers, no annoying family. Home, nightcap, tv, then Boxing Day for footy!

Reading this thread you get
Christ wasn't born on 25/12
It a pagan festival called yuletide
Turkey has no taste
Happy people are in my usually miserable pub
Christmas is just a money making exercise
The music is shite
It's just a day like any other

Me I love it , don't mind my local being full for a change, don't mind Noddy shouting it's Christmas, Turkey cooked right is delicious,, not religious but like a good Christmas carol service don't mind the odd mulled wine or Christmas Ale or 3
Merry Christmas to one and all , except Rags Dippers ,Spuds & Tarquins
