Went into my local last night and the landlady had put up 2 Christmas trees.
Unbelievable. Not going in a again, on principle, until mid January.

It seems to be starting very early this year. I do enjoy Christmas and the run-up to it -,but not until we’re into December - and I fucking hate the music and the shopping.Went into my local last night and the landlady had put up 2 Christmas trees.

I think it’s started early this year because people are trying to spread their spending out but mainly because they want something other than the lying, the bad news and the bad feelings and angst with everything that’s happening in the world.
They want a break from it, they want something to look forward to. That’s what my friends are saying/feeling, anyway. :-)

Only 13 Eastern States fought for and got independence in the US but that doesn't stop the rest of them gorging for 24 hours does it.I think it's tedious because it's basically the same shit each year.
Going into supermarkets and hearing that fucking shite Slade record does nothing for my mood. Especially when it's played for weeks on end.
I can quite understand religious people going to church and taking part in the special services. It's a matter of celebrating Jesus's birth, even though he almost certainly was not born on 25 Dec. But for most people, all it amounts to is a plate of turkey - the vilest and most tasteless meat known to man, which no normal person eats at any other time - and many hours of utter shite on TV.
As for having a drink, I can do that any time, any day I like. I don't need an excuse, nor do I like pubs crowded out by wankers.
Same with Christmas. I bet no one gives a flying fuck about the meaning, whatever it is, but the time off and family get togethers are much appreciated.
