Do you like Christmas?

What else is there to do this time of year?

If anyone has any alternatives let me know.

I buzz off my nephew and niece's..its a sad time for many myself included. Make the best of it

I like the excitement of my kids, the Christmas movies, getting the Radio Times and marking in the crap we all want to watch, the smell of mulled wine or cider, the food, the decorations, the time off work.

I dislike the fact its advertised since June or July now, the stress of organizing the whole thing, the awkwardness of receiving presents, the shops being rammed, and that awful New Year vibe of darkness and depression.

Overall I'd miss it, no doubt, but I do think that once my kids grow up it'll be rather crap for a while.

I hate this general time of year (not just Christmas per se). The dark days, shitty weather etc. The sooner we get into mid January and slightly longer days and (maybe) slightly less shitty weather, the better.
Christmas is really a continuation of pagan winter festivals. It's purpose is to give people something to do in the depths of winter.

I think it's great when you're a kid. I suspect it's great when you have kids and can afford to buy them stuff.

Otherwise, it's a bit tedious. You know what shit films will be on TV now. Before the schedule is announced. As for getting pissed, it's not my thing anymore. As for stuffing myself with food, I can do that any time. As I'm retired, it's not even time off work.

Good luck to those who enjoy it.

I used to but not any longer, I see the pressure parents are under to give their kids the presents they want at a time where many people are struggling and it doesnt sit right.

My ideal Xmas would be to have my loved ones close and healthy, thats all that matters.

Having growing up in a family from a Jewish background, it is not massively ingrained into our family like it would be others, but i still grew up in England and Christmas has been part of my life.

I enjoy the "festive spirit" of Christmas and the lights and things like tha,t it's a nice time of year in that regard....

but the commercial side of it I don't really like very much, more so just because there's so much pressure put on families and it's almost like a blackmail to make families get their kids stuff they can't afford, and its being shoved down their throat every 2 minutes and using kids to do it. and in many cases kids completely miss out and feel shame that other kids get things they can't. I know that's the realities of life every day of the year bit i think at Christmas time it's even worse and that part fills me with some sadness

I do think it's out of hand now and would be much better if kids just got one or two nice things instead of a sofa full of presents like many kids expect

Usually I love it.
This year I'm dreading it. I've never felt less festive, even though I'm trying incredibly hard to pretend that I am for the sake of the children.
